The setting sun lights up a passing thunderstorm, as ambient light from a brilliant Wyoming sky illuminates an empty potash train powered by a trio of Union Pacific EMD SD40-2s climbing Peru Hill west of Green River on July 5, 1988.
In Aguas Calientes the hillsides are steep and the railway line runs along the bottom of the valley, which also happens to be a commercial district. I was surprised (although I don't know why) to see a mixed train standing in the street while men swarmed around unloading the freight cars. Prepare to see the unexpected in colourful Peru, you'll not be disappointed.
The Pacific coast along the Pan-American Highway (southern Peru) 20221120
Peru Highway 1, most widely known as Carretera Panamericana, is the most important highway in Peru.
This road is the Peruvian portion of the Pan-American Highway. It runs north–south through the whole length of the country and connects all major cities in the country's coastal area.
The northern terminus of the highway is located in the Macará International Bridge (Piura Region) at the border with Ecuador. Starting in this point, the highway is known as Carretera Panamericana Norte ("North Pan-American Highway") until it reaches a point located in central Lima, the country's capital.
Going south from this point, the highway is called Carretera Panamericana Sur ("South Pan-American Highway"), until it reaches the southern terminus, located in the Santa Rosa Border Post, in the Tacna Region at the border with Chile.

This one has Christmas colours, red and green. I’m not a fan as they are very intrusive in the garden.

Peruvian Pelican - Pelecanus thagus - Though closely related, the Peruvian Pelican is almost twice as large as its northern congener, the Brown Pelican. The species breeds along the Pacific Coast of South America in Peru and Chile. Though still common, with about half a million breeding adults, the population has been negatively affected by strong El Niño fluctuations and changes in food fish populations, particularly anchoveta. Peruvian Pelicans are easily observed from shore as they fly back and forth in nearshore waters by means of soaring interrupted by deep, methodical wingbeats. Near threatened. doi.org/10.2173/bow.perpel1.01

It looks lovely but it is very invasive. It is all over the front garden and even in the shade house. I dig it up where I can. Definitely only for a plant pot.
Peruvian Lily in the garden.
Alstroemeria, also known as Peruvian, parrot, or princess lily, as well as lily of the Incas, is an exceptional cutting garden flower in the Alstroemeriaceae family.
There are about 80 species native to South America, with the greatest diversity in Chile. Thanks to today’s hybrids and cultivars, there’s a rainbow of options available for the home gardener.

These are so pretty in the garden and even nicer in a vase. I have two colours in the garden, pink and red.

The Peruvian Lilies from my Christmas flowers.
If you have any of the Lily family of flowers in your house and also have a cat(s) beware. They are highly toxic / lethal to cats and they only need to ingest a tiny amount to kill them.
Better viewed large, and thank you for your favourites. :)

Ten days ago I received a beautiful bouquet of fresh flowers from my hubby. The flowers lasted a long time but today I need to separate the best of the bunch and discard the blooms that are spent. The Peruvian Lilies have stayed the freshest and I will arrange them in a new vase with some foliage. They really do brighten up my day.
