The only photo on record for Peru of this rare species. Otherwise known only from Yasuni national park in Ecuador. Fascinatingly, these plants have been called epi- or ectomycorrhizal parasites because rather than parasitizing other plants directly through haustoria, they use mycorrhizae as a kind of bridge from which to siphon nutrients from the host plant.
