This viaduct must be a little scary when a heavy freight or a steam special uses it.

Lightning over Perth, Western Australia. This was a storm that came out of the blue on 1st March 2017, and one that was a long time coming. No decent storms in Perth since 2015!

Perth city from South Perth over the Swan River, again!
Can't help myself, this is the view from where I stay in Perth, it just screams, photograph me. I love the rainbow colour effects in the water during the blue hour. This is more like the typical Postcard shot of Perth.

Taken in East Perth. An abandoned petrol (gas) station. This was right on the fringe of China Town. Before walking here I didnt even know Perth had a China Town :-)
When the light’s right…
… drop everything, grab your camera, and get snapping. I spotted this scene from our kitchen window, grabbed my camera, ran upstairs… and even in that short time (less than 1 minute?), the light had changed quite a bit.
I like the contrast of the sunshine on the woods and the dark clouds in the background. The city in the foreground sets some kind of context.

40173 stands at Perth while mail is unloaded from a wonderfully antediluvian and eclectic set of parcels vans on a wet day in March, 1981. The loco had just weeks left in service, being withdrawn on 24 August that year and parked at Easfield for most of 1982 before being cannibalised. The remains, essentially the body shell, were dumped in Perth Goods Yard and eventually scrapped at Jamiestown Bay, Inverkeithing, in April 1985. (This replaces an earlier scan of the same image.)
This shot was taken from Kings Park near the Perth CBD at twilight.

New development along South Perth foreshore where there are some hanging chrome balls. Problem is that they are rotating so took a few shots to get the city reflection and in focus. Looks very surreal.
One scene, two shots #1
Taken shortly after sunrise, I was struck by the blue of the sky… and its reflection in the pond. The overall impression is of blue-ness – although not taken during ‘blue hour’.

Crawley Edge Boat Shed is a very popular place for photographs. There was no less than 12 people come and go when I was there. The Crawley Edge Boat Shed was built in the early 1930s.
Perth is a mining town. Mining is a major source of revenue for Western Australia and hence the state is relatively wealthy and has the highest median household income of any Australian capital city. The picture shows the precinct at the ground floor for one of the major mining companies. This is repeated throughout the city with some lovely grounds
