I personally don't get to visit my grandma often as she lives in a faraway country. My other grandmother passed away in 2006, though I have vivid memories of visiting her back in 2004. [read more...]

Those who know me personally know that I love loons. They are in fact likely my very favourite bird not only in Canada but likely in the entire world. There are few things that I prefer doing than sitting and watching, listening to, and of course photoraphing these special birds. As such, I couldn't resist posting a loon image for the second straight day! I'll call this one 'mauve reflection'.

Faverney, Franche Comté - FR. Third and last of the series. Personally I think this is the best one, best half-tones, best perspective, best clouds. The sun on the bushes far away provides the image anchor. This image is best viewed on a large monitor.
The camera is not merely a reflecting pool and the photographs are not exactly the mirror, mirror on the wall that speaks with a twisted tongue. Witness is borne and puzzles come together at the photographic moment which is very simple and complete. The mind-finger presses the release on the silly machine and it stops time and holds what its jaws can encompass and what the light will stain :-)

and I come from a long line of ancestors who liked to be photographed. My Grandfather Fisher liked to be photographed so well that we have one old Fisher family album in which there is nothing but photographs of my grandfather. In not one of them, however, is he shown lying on his back with a dahlia in his mouth :-)

I personally don't like heights, so I don't know how these guys can hang from so very high. I took this while in downtown Vancouver - not sure if they were washing windows or? You may have to zoom in to see the men on the suspended stage and the cool shadow behind them.
Another shot of Long Beach in the opposite direction.
The resort hotel in the right is Saigon Phu Quoc Resort.
A very long pier in the distance is for cruise ships as the Duong Dong river port is too shallow for large vessels.
Phu Quoc experienced a construction boom throughout the 2010s. In that decade, new beaches were discovered in the north, south and east of the island for large-scale construction projects.
I have not seen the new places but informed that there is a safari park, a Disneyland like resort, the longest cable car in Southeast Asia connecting the main island with an off-shore islet etc., which I personally think irrelevant in Phu Quoc.
These unique tourism sites are conceived by emerging Vietnamese entrepreneurs who probably have a different perception about tourism from mine. They, however, may be consistent with the needs of their domestic market.
Let's see how sustainable they would be in the long run.
I personally like the red effect on the snow here, what was the same in real. As you can see the photo was edited afterwards, too. Makes the effect even stronger what I could see in real with my own eyes already.
Not myself personally.... the caption used, is to describe the subject I was focused on :)

Personally I cherish being by the sea on stormy or hazy days. There is such a wonderful mood and bittersweet melancholy to coastal landscapes immersed in twilight, battered by storms or hiding in fog. To walk along the sea on such days is one of my great delights. To photograph it is an aspiration but also one of the great challenges :)
Personally I think, that this is the most beautiful bird of prey. Elegant, intelligent and dangerous. One of them checked our green house last summer, where we stored six border collie puppies.
This image was taken for the themed group Smile on Saturday. This week's theme is "floriography" The information below about the Gerbera Daisy comes from the following website. I personally found it to be very interesting and plan to visit the site to read about other flower meanings.
The gerbera daisy is native to South Africa and lush with bright colors and a happy beauty about it. These daisies are strong perennial plants with colors from deepest red to warm yellows, creams, white and peach shades. Not surprisingly the Victorian meaning of the gerbera daisy is happiness. The gerbera daisy seems to hold its rays open to the world radiating pure happiness. Who wouldn’t get a smile on their face when presented with a bouquet of these beauties?
What Does the Gerbera Daisy Mean? Gerbera Daisies have several meanings, but all lean to happiness. The Egyptian meaning of gerberas is closeness to nature and devotion to the sun. The Celts believed that the gerbera would lessen the sorrows and stresses of everyday life. Any type of daisy equals the truth or happiness of children. It is thought that if someone gives a gift of covered gerbera daisies that it symbolizes they are hiding something.
Etymological Meaning of the Gerbera Flower: The Latin name for the gerbera daisy is Gerbera jamesonii and is part of the large Asteraceae family of flowers. These daisies were named after the German botanist and doctor Traugott Gerber. Also known as the Transvaal Daisy. A Scotsman, Robert Jameson found these beauties growing wild around the dug up gold mines he was in charge of in Transvaal, South Africa, and Mr. Jameson is credited with also discovering these flowers.
The symbolism of the gerbera daisy is the simple beauty of a very happy life. Throughout history, the gerbera daisy has symbolized the innocent hearts of children, attributed to the white gerbera, and, happiness and gratefulness for the life you have been given. The meaning is more energized than contentedness or mellowness. It is happiness that bubbles, fizzes, and pops with joyous surprises.
There is an energetic playfulness to these flowers, which is evident in all their radiant colors. These are not flowers for regrets. These flowers are a celebration of life!
Gerberas are available in rich reds, oranges, yellows peaches, creams, and white and there a few distinct meanings including...
orange: sunshine of life
Red: unconscious in love or fully immersed in love
White: is a symbol of purity or innocence, childlike
Pink: admiration, adoration, or high esteem
yellow: cheerfulness
Personally, I would rather be looking at the sea - an incredibly beautiful spot on the Oregon Coast.

Red Lily - Santa Gemita - Laowa 65mm - Nov 22 2022 - Enhanced
Had this picture and since it's heart time, I've posted it!
The text and lyrics are known to Elvis, although he personally did not like it.
"Don’t take anything personally. Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions of others, you won’t be the victim of needless suffering."

Personally I'll NEVER be sick of CUTE!
Featuring:
The Bearded Guy Sick of Cute Backdrop @ TLC
ERSCH Amoure Dress @ Cupid Inc.
Another Marten shot from last year. Oh yes and fun fact I read that Martens are descent swimmers can even go underwater (probably not for long). I personally have never witnessed one swimming as I dont see Martens in the warmer months. :)
I personally love this time of year in the garden as lots of blue appearing. My ceanothus is just beginning to burst out with it's beautiful blue blooms. So hopefully the garden will be a mass of honey bees also real soon. Hope you are not feeling to blue out there! HSoS
I personally love the dawn atmosphere, for many reasons. The silence, the first light, the soft cold air; and being a sort of introvert, finding myself comfortable with the emptiness and no humans :) Most of all, I'd say everyone should have the experience of dawns sometimes, very charmingly refreshing they are.
So personally I am picky when it comes to finding new skins. Finding fantasy skins is so hard, but finding deep dark drow skins is nearly impossible. Dark fantasy skins sometimes feel like theres little texture and detail due to their dark nature. Well Petrichor has created a new beautifully done drow skin. With different color jewels embedded in the darkness... and the skin is fully BOM. Which to me is super important. So if you are in need of a great fantasy skin stop in at Petrichor and check out the Shadowlaz skin today.

....personally I prefer sitting down in a canoe....kneeling or standing seems to make it more difficult, but I'm sure someone will put me right. Difficult to believe this shot was taken a couple of hours after the last one.
I personally like subjects with wings. Examples are aitcrafts, birds and butteflies. Not a perfect unobstructed view but I wanted to try this angle with my average 55-250 mm canon lens. I am loving the output.
I personally think the pigeon is a rather beautiful bird, and when captured in the right setting.... can you disagree?
even better when the sun hits the feathers, a beauty!
Personally, I think Friday is the most beautiful day of the week! :-) Wishing you all a great weekend!!!
I personally think that a 2.5L engine rolling down the road on two wheels is a bit much but my son thinks differently and the Triumph Rocket is quite an impressive motorcycle and a nice stable mate to his BMW R Nine T. He also thought that I needed to get back into riding so now I have a motorcycle too. A bit smaller, the Street Twin 900 is plenty for me and I've always liked the twin configuration engine layout. The bike is not too heavy and I can keep my two feet on the ground. OK, maybe a bit old school but with plenty of the latest tech features (except maybe cruise control), that's just the way I like it.
Been a bit tied up with researching all the cool motorcycle gear and heading out for rides but I've configured one saddle bag for camera gear so It's all good! And, like photography, the wish like for a motorcycle gets quite long.
RKO_0430. Personally I love the soft tones and how the colors of both eagle and surrounding match.

Personally I think purple suits her but Cleo prefers yellow, orange or red. Quite surprising that she accepted to pose next to those flowers despite their colour. To be brutally honest, a strategically placed treat did the trick. :)
White-bellied Sea-eagle, Haliaeetus leucogaster

I did a bit more research on our singing couple.
It is quite well documented and called, appropriately, "A Duet".
HNZAB notes:
"one of the loudest and fartherest carrying bird calls, in Australia,"
Call most during courtship period.
Pairs perform sustained duets at any time of year but particularly during courting and breeding, and when perched together.
Duets given when birds are perched side by side or in flight.
After landing lengthy bout of loud calls increasing in volume and frequency.
D. Hollands in his excellent book on Eagles and Falcons, says on p 101.
"There... they sit side by side like two montorous Kookaburras, necks outstretched and open beaks pointed to heaven while their echoing cries break the silence....
≠===========≠
Sea-eagles have never nested at this location, that I know of, but sources say they do nest further down the coast.
It is not unusual to find a juvenile Sea-eagle at work over the environmental ponds at the Tretatment Plant.
Breeding seems to be from June-Dec
Personally, I hope they breed away from the site as the amount of human attention they'd attract here would be deleterious.
Not personally, one presumes.
Built on the site of an existing Saxon hall, Corfe Castle was an early stone castle built on a natural mound, starting in the 1080s.The Normans more commonly built wooden castles (Baileys) on man-made mounds (Mottes). Corfe Castle continued in use for centuries, several English Kings residing here for short periods. It was eventually ‘slighted’ ie damaged beyond use in the English Civil War in 1648.
The site had been the scene of the bloody murder of King Edward the Martyr in 978 at the behest of his wicked step-mother, Elfrida. A plaque in the village commemorates the 1000th year since his murder. Personally, I’d rather not be murdered and go without the 1000 year plaque, which, admittedly is a pretty cool thing to have. I mean, how many people get to be commemorated a whole millennium after their death? Not many!

Personally, I really like the transition from autumn to winter. I find a situation particularly nice when winter announces itself earlier than usual and the trees are still wearing their typical autumn dress. Like a hyper transformation.
Now I personally don't think this view of the mill is half as nice as the one of the path leading down to the front of it, but if the water is still you get get a rather lovely reflection.
The Balmoral Grist Mill Museum is a restored 1874 water powered grist mill located in Balmoral Mills, Nova Scotia. The site includes a 1 km walking trail along the ravine of Balmoral Brook. The mill is part of the Nova Scotia Museum system. Alexander MacKay owned this water-powered grist mill in the 1880s. It could be used to grind wheat, oats, barley, rye, and buckwheat into flour and meal. The Scottish oat-drying kiln is unique.
Personally...I feel there is a bit more to be worried about here than chicken poop.
Happy Window Wednesday!
At the end of the Road Trip I arrived in the Feilding Square and before me was the best image of the afternoon! I decided to shot the Clock tower showing 2 of (the four) faces of the clock, personally i think this is the best image of the trip! if you want to check out the others please click on the link below youtu.be/u5AKQUYZGtU
"Personally, I've learned about perseverance: when you hear the word 'No,' and when you hear rejection, that it's not always final. And that timing is everything, and you have to stay the course and just keep working hard and know that, when your time comes, that it will be sweet and that it will be the perfect time." - Angela Robinson

In advance, I thank you for your comments and invites. I will stop by your websites shortly.
Personal Note: I must admit I am disappointed how Explore seems to be working. My issue is this. I have photos that are seen in Explore in the evening and they are nowhere to be found in the morning. Worst of all, Scout does not detect the image sat in Explore for several hours. Many are positioned in the 100 to 250 range. This has happened the past two days. I know what you are thinking. "That's Explore, don't take it personally, and Explore is not a judge of photographic quality." It still bugs me. And I have seen the same thing with many of YOUR great photos that show up in explore and are nowhere to be found in the final 500. Any comments or insights? Thank you for listening to this little Thursday morning rant.
RIP, Don White, 11/26/21.
My uncle Don passed away this morning. He was the original record collector in our family, starting back in the 78 rpm era. He had the largest collection of music of anyone that I have personally known. This was just a small portion of his collection that he was able to take with him when he had to move into a retirement home. Keep that vinyl spinning...
