The shot of the building facade was taken in Manhattan's SoHo cast-iron district.I personally like the reflections of the head/face keystones on the second row of windows.?

This is the 3rd hummingbird nest I found this spring at a local park.

The hummers had a lot of troubles this year. A photographer friend of mine who specializes in shooting them, noticed their numbers were down and there were quite a few who appeared sickly.

He is not the only person who noticed, however. Several people I talked to said they noticed they weren't as prolific this year.

I do know that the nests in this park are heavily preyed upon by several species, but perhaps the most devastating is the introduced Gray Squirrel. Two of the three nests I discovered never made it due to predation, including this well hidden and photogenic nest.

Personally, this is the second year I have found three or more nests, and it's the first time I've witnessed over 1/2 of them not making it to fledging.

Please don't use this image on websites, blogs, etc. without my permission.

Those who know me personally know that I love loons. They are in fact likely my very favourite bird not only in Canada but likely in the entire world. There are few things that I prefer doing than sitting and watching, listening to, and of course photoraphing these special birds. As such, I couldn't resist posting a loon image for the second straight day! I'll call this one 'mauve reflection'.

I wish to speak a word for Nature, for absolute freedom and wildness, as contrasted with a freedom and culture merely civil--to regard man as an inhabitant, or a part and parcel of Nature, rather than a member of society. I wish to make an extreme statement, if so I may make an emphatic one, for there are enough champions of civilization: the minister and the school committee and every one of you will take care of that.

Personal note: Remarkably, this is my Flickr photo 4,000....at least according to my official Flickr counter which may vary from yours. This photographic hobby began from an unexpected source not too many years ago and grew through the unexpected response and support of the finest group of contacts one could imagine. You are all greatly valued and appreciated not only for what you do artistically, but what you give personally. I look forward to 5,000... the gods be willin' an' the creek don't rise...;-))

from decorating ! Unfortunately the decorating isn't easy, as the room is difficult, being full of furniture which I can't move easily. So apologies that I'm slow on Flickr and my admin duties so often. Busy altogether, taking our dog out too ... but I have my camera with me on our walks and thought this made a good subject. I've photographed this tree before and thought it was dead, but it isn't !! It's got leaves bursting out again - perfect beautiful Spring !

Thank you so much for your faves, and comments. I can't thank you all personally, for the reasons explained above, but you know you're all so appreciated. Have a wonderful Easter weekend, I hope you all have good weather wherever you are. I am carrying on with the decorating, unfortunately ! But I will be here too !!!

In southwestern Ontario, we experience a wide range of temperatures throughout the year. We go from the wicked cold of minus 25 celsius in winter, to the sweltering summer heat of 35 celsius with lots of humidity. This particular summer has been a hot one, but personally I don’t mind the heat. I was sweating on this hot evening along the shore of the Canard River. But it’s actually more pleasant taking pictures in the heat, as opposed to the finger numbing cold of winter.

One more of this one , because for me personally this is THE find of the last ten years !!!

It's rare and it's 12,5 cm big !!!

FeverFete is officially open and it’s 100% packed with all sorts of Music festival inspired goodies. I’m personally obsessed with this set from MINIMAL. I’ve been to plenty music festivals and they certainly hit it outta the park with this build. I’m also rocking a gorgeous new pair of boots and outfit from [HU]...

This garden ornament was totally lost in our jungle of a garden until our gardener George found it again under some bushes, Personally I blame our red squirrels.

and I come from a long line of ancestors who liked to be photographed. My Grandfather Fisher liked to be photographed so well that we have one old Fisher family album in which there is nothing but photographs of my grandfather. In not one of them, however, is he shown lying on his back with a dahlia in his mouth :-)

I personally don't like heights, so I don't know how these guys can hang from so very high. I took this while in downtown Vancouver - not sure if they were washing windows or? You may have to zoom in to see the men on the suspended stage and the cool shadow behind them.

I personally like the red effect on the snow here, what was the same in real. As you can see the photo was edited afterwards, too. Makes the effect even stronger what I could see in real with my own eyes already.

Flores de Santa Gemita - Laowa 65 - Oct 2022 - Enhanced-16

The name of this picture is no coincidence, because that is Charles Bridge, THE bridge in Prague. It was already built in the 14th century and is one of the oldest stone bridges in Europe. I personally don't know of any bridge that is crossed by so many people every day.

For me it is an integral part of every photo tour I do in this city. More than that, this one perspective below the bridge with a view to the old town is a must for me.

It never gets boring for me and since it only happens once every two or three years I think neither will it for You.

Personally I think, that this is the most beautiful bird of prey. Elegant, intelligent and dangerous. One of them checked our green house last summer, where we stored six border collie puppies.

My eldest daughter and I went out to a lovely restaurant last night; 'Heavenly Desserts', and as you can probably imagine, it's a place that serve only desserts! All I can say is, WOW. Just, WOW!

Straight after, we then decided to drive to our favourite jaunt, at Dovedale, and took to some steel-wool-spinning (as you do)...

Impulsive? Perhaps.

Fun? Absolutely!

Personally, I blame the ice-cream-chocolate-sugar-overload!

Atlantic puffin, Fratercula arctica, lunni, Norway.

One of the best bird encounters personally, puffins at close range on Hornøya island, Varangerfjord, Norway. There were also many other seabirds nesting there.

Personally, I would rather be looking at the sea - an incredibly beautiful spot on the Oregon Coast.

Red Lily - Santa Gemita - Laowa 65mm - Nov 22 2022 - Enhanced

Well, you guys are probably sick of Palouse shots for now, but I thought I'd upload another of mine that I initially passed by (I think I only uploaded 3 this season). I have many without sky, so I thought I'd give this one an edit. I really liked the shadows cast by the group of trees (small forest) and the light was some of the best of the season. It's pretty warm over-all as the light was breaking through some mist as it usually does out there in the spring at sunrise. Comments and critiques are very welcome. Thanks for looking! Chip

Due to more strict enforcement of their rules, Flickr has asked me and many others to take down info such as links to personal websites and workshop information. However, it is still allowed to have such information in one's Flickr Profile.

How lucky I have be when I can take my touring skis without thinking twice and go to a snow-covered peak.

Many of our fellow human beings can no longer even leave their house. Maybe from time to time we should stop and appreciate what we have!

I would like to thank you very much for

all comments, awards and faves!

Unfortunately it is not possible for me to

thank everyone personally.

Many greetings from the Tyrol,

the ❤️ of the Alps.

As every year, on the third Thursday of November, we celebrate World Philosophy Day. We are few philosophers and not very well known, but our activity of reflection and teaching of this wonderful discipline is increasingly important in these complicated times we live in.

I personally teach philosophy to young people and it is the most exciting activity I have ever done.

Socrates, Aristotle, Descartes, Hume, Kant are the great minds that will help us to understand ourselves. Sapere Aude!

Happy World Philosophy Day

I personally love this time of year in the garden as lots of blue appearing. My ceanothus is just beginning to burst out with it's beautiful blue blooms. So hopefully the garden will be a mass of honey bees also real soon. Hope you are not feeling to blue out there! HSoS

I personally love the dawn atmosphere, for many reasons. The silence, the first light, the soft cold air; and being a sort of introvert, finding myself comfortable with the emptiness and no humans :) Most of all, I'd say everyone should have the experience of dawns sometimes, very charmingly refreshing they are.

....personally I prefer sitting down in a canoe....kneeling or standing seems to make it more difficult, but I'm sure someone will put me right. Difficult to believe this shot was taken a couple of hours after the last one.

Today I want to dedicate my work to a true friend and artist, A.R.R.E. - Salvador Concepción who has passed away and who I personally will miss. He was a very talented artist and an inspiration, friend and teacher. You will be sincerely missed my friend, but your art leaves us with joy to look at and the most fantastic memories. Thank you!

I personally like subjects with wings. Examples are aitcrafts, birds and butteflies. Not a perfect unobstructed view but I wanted to try this angle with my average 55-250 mm canon lens. I am loving the output.

I personally think the pigeon is a rather beautiful bird, and when captured in the right setting.... can you disagree?

even better when the sun hits the feathers, a beauty!

Personally, I think Friday is the most beautiful day of the week! :-) Wishing you all a great weekend!!!

Give those you love wings to fly, roots to return and reasons to stay.

Summer ended with two days of downpours.

Punctual as ever. Too quickly catapulted into a gray and cold climate. To think it was 30 degrees last week. A sudden slap. :) and this is the thought of the image. Greetings to summer, a return to the roots, to the immobility. It was a strange summer for everyone. Apparently normal, with people around, on the beaches, sea, sun, boats etc ... (personally seen on TV :)) but each of you knows that it was not "the usual summer".

As for the music, all of you will have danced this piece, which was born in 1977

Personally I think this is just outstanding artwork by one very talented artist.

I personally think that a 2.5L engine rolling down the road on two wheels is a bit much but my son thinks differently and the Triumph Rocket is quite an impressive motorcycle and a nice stable mate to his BMW R Nine T. He also thought that I needed to get back into riding so now I have a motorcycle too. A bit smaller, the Street Twin 900 is plenty for me and I've always liked the twin configuration engine layout. The bike is not too heavy and I can keep my two feet on the ground. OK, maybe a bit old school but with plenty of the latest tech features (except maybe cruise control), that's just the way I like it.

Been a bit tied up with researching all the cool motorcycle gear and heading out for rides but I've configured one saddle bag for camera gear so It's all good! And, like photography, the wish like for a motorcycle gets quite long.

RKO_0430. Personally I love the soft tones and how the colors of both eagle and surrounding match.

Thanks a lot for your visit, fave and comments. Its truly appreciated!

*Lifer* This rare find was off to the left of the Jetty at Barnegat Light. I (Barbara) will personally never forget this bird because it cost me a shoulder injury falling on the rocks while trying to find it.

This image was taken New Years Day still officially this year. A stunning winter wonderland display of hoar frost. The type of frost that clings to the branches giving it a Narnia appearance. It's very beautiful and I wish it would appear more often, especially right now looking out of the window at yet another white sky/rainy day.

Too much indulgence the night before meant that I missed the red sky part of the sunrise which I still regret. It sounds a cliche but I don't really know where 2021 went! I know we were all desperate for it to arrive and to banish 2020 into history. I think it was an easier year as far as the virus was concerned, although for me personally not really in other ways. Lets hope 2022 is even easier!!

And thanks again for everyones friendship and support x

Personally I think purple suits her but Cleo prefers yellow, orange or red. Quite surprising that she accepted to pose next to those flowers despite their colour. To be brutally honest, a strategically placed treat did the trick. :)

Bluebird count for GBBC: 2

The eastern bluebird (Sialia sialis) is a small thrush found in open woodlands, farmlands, and orchards. It is the state bird of Missouri[2] and New York.

This species measures 16–21 cm (6.3–8.3 in) long, spans 25–32 cm (9.8–12.6 in) across the wings, and weighs 27–34 g (0.95–1.20 oz).[3][4] Eastern bluebirds are found east of the Rockies, southern Canada to the Gulf states, and southeastern Arizona to Nicaragua. The increase in trees throughout the Great Plains during the past century due to fire suppression and tree planting facilitated the western range expansion of the eastern bluebird[5] as well as range expansions of many other species of birds.

About two-thirds of the diet of an adult consists of insects and other invertebrates. The remainder of the bird's diet is made up of wild fruits or berries. Favored insect foods include grasshoppers, crickets, katydids, and beetles. Other food items include earthworms, spiders, millipedes, centipedes, sow bugs, and snails.

I personally have to add nuts to the diet. The bluebirds in my yard love peanuts.
