A business card box given away by a pharmaceutical company. I personalized it using one of my thousands of polar bear photos which I made a sticker of to cover the company logo - that's now "under cover" , so to speak :-))

In America, 670,000 people have died from COVID-19. This exhibit of 670,000 flags (and more every day) is meant to remember those that passed.
You can visit this immense field of flags on the National Mall, in Washington, DC, from September 17 - October 3, 2021. Visitors are invited to personalize flags for someone they have lost.
I'll continue with some more treasures from Arthur Purchases' collection of New England shortlines. The Claremont & Concord was a former interurban and freight operation that stretched from Claremont Jct east to Newport, NH. It was an interesting line with sharp curves and quite a bit of street trackage. The CPM and Coy mill in West Claremont was a great money maker for decades. Through the years of ownership by the Pinsly organization, it operated with a fleet of GE 44 ton switchers painted in a brilliant red and black scheme. The 1970-80s were a busy time for the railroad, hauling road salt, grain, lumber and outbound traffic from Claremont flock corp. The C&C interchanged with the B&M at Claremont Jct, and was a 5 day a week operation. Here 44 tonner number 18 equipped with a homemade snow plow is crossing Mullberry Street in Claremont, NH with 3 loads of bagged grain and feed from the Webster Mill in Richford, VT off the CP for the Agway dealer in Claremont. I'd be lying if I said, I've run out of his "good" stuff. More to come. February 10, 1978. Photo by Arthur Purchase.

While we were still staying my mother in law’s basement waiting to close on the house a dangerous question was asked of us; “Hey, would you want or have any use for all these cassette tapes?” His cousin has texted that in a familial house clean out they found this family member’s cassette tape collection.
This 16x16 cardboard box is filled with an array of tapes from every imaginable genre and era. I love music in the same way that I love baseball. While yes, I do most often cheer for my home team Pittsburgh Pirates, I love the entirety of the game of baseball and it’s storied and often challenging history/what it could become most of all. With music, while sure I likely most often listen to metal, soul, funk, jazz, & goth/new wave; I love the idea of music. That we as human have continuously used the idea of music to express ourselves, convey a message, or pass down ancestorstory/stories/legends/knowledge. That we constantly find new ways of using our bodies, our minds, and the world around us to make sounds and songs we’ve never heard before. I am always seeking out people making new instruments to share with the world and always and forever trying to find music I’ve never heard before.
Recently I’ve been really enjoying funk and psychedelic rock from Africa and Eastern Europe. That being said… these aren’t just commercially available to purchase cassettes, and here is where I get really emotional about it. There are 3 or 4 boxes of these tapes and more than half of them are either mix tapes this man made of every genre, but also some radio recordings of Wolfman Jack (and maybe even more radio djs). There are tapes of old radio dramas, broadway music original cast recordings, outlaw country, and everything in between. We also got stacks of custom built wall shelves he had made and labeled.
This is such an intimate gift of another human being’s love for music and I am beyond honored to have it passed along to us. I don’t know what we’ll do with the entire collection, but I’m looking into what specifically I’d want to keep and what options there are for digitizing some of the mixes/radio recordings. I am also possibly passing some of this on to others who are interested in the personalization that often comes with this specific breed of dead media (mixed tapes and cds) and has a love of music.
