Lake Erie Storm 340
Another image for my current personal project around the recent gale force storm that hit the Buffalo area in early December. The winds were so strong you could practically see the seich, or windblown tide, as the Great Lake's water was shifted eastward.

Pin and Hard Light
For this week´s macro challenge our task assigned was to seek hard light
This is a push pin from our cork board.
Happy Macro Monday to all ...
While returning a book to the shelf, in the hall, something distracts me. I try to walk on by, but it is useless to waste thoughts of false intentions. Admittedly, it is the alure of the light that brings me into the office today. I reassure myself that I won't stay long. Then, in this wandering moment, I know the image for my project can be this today.
I believe that when we are mindfully present and soulfully appreciating all things, big and small, nothing is ordinary.
Until tomorrow, xo.

Every time we go out to eat at a restaurant, Curtis always grabs a handful of mints on the way out the door. He keeps them stashed in my car (in the center console and the side storage on the passenger door), in his car, in his pockets, in his backpack... pretty much anywhere you can imagine. I think it's a darling habit and now anytime I see a peppermint candy, I think of my husband. This is my favorite kind... it's the cinnamon mint where the top is pink. The green ones are good too... they have a citrus zing. You can always tell if a candy is going to be a good one if there is a shiny glaze on the outside!

Gerbera Daisy Seed Pods
For this week´s macro challenge our task assigned was to take two words from a list and then capture a macro image illustrating the combination of the two chosen words. My choice was "Fuzzy" and "Plant". I have some plants growing under lights and they provided me with my subject this round.
This is a seed pod from a Gerbera Daisy caught up in the fuzzyness of the plant stem.

Frog Drops
Our sprinklers went off on Tuesday and the sun was shining so pretty through the drops that I was compelled to get a photo. I tried to focus on the two drops balanced precariously on the leaf just to the left of center (I didn’t want to crop in because I LOVE water bokeh so much!). The two drops look like frog eyes to me, do you see it?

I really was going to try to stay away from the dandelions.... but to be honest I have about 5 or 6 more waiting in line for an upload...so I am going to start a dandelion set. I thought it would be interesting how many different ways you can get one single flower to look.
Succulent plant
For this week´s macro challenge our task assigned was to seek curves in our image.
"Baby" Succulent - NO idea what its correct name would be. Found among some of the many plants in our south window.
Was playing with my "Pringles" flash to capture this little fellow.

Enjoying the last afternoon's light with Imran, he asked me where is the Sun? In these difficult covid-19 pandemic, lockdown and Isolation days, kids are becoming much more restless and out of control. Children's mental development is being hampered. I tried much to spend more times with my kids to make hope and open new window. Chittagong, Bangladesh 04/29/2020
For the first time, I stood in front of my own camera. I struggled to focus my lens on my own story, embracing the power of photography as a motivation to survive. While struggling to capture this moment in history, I dreamed of a downpour in the desert. I felt as though I was drowning and tried to stay alive through our story.

Dramatic Sky
I couldn’t decide which photo of the giant dark cloud I liked better so I thought I’d share both! I just kneeled down to try to isolate the dead tree trunk but still got a shed intersecting with part of it. It really was quite dramatic! We woke up Wednesday to about an inch of snow on the ground. Though it was a short visit, it was wonderful to see Pam, Gregg, Gabe, and Sheilah. Gabe really doesn’t like having his picture taken so I was trying to respect that. We missed Dominic like crazy (and mom and the dogs too!) but I was so glad that we went. Thank you guys for hosting and cooking!!!

Cool Caterpillar
I did find one really large, really cool looking caterpillar. Are there any experts out there that can help me identify it? It was about 4-inches long and moved pretty quickly. It is really neat seeing all of the details on its body… the cilia, the spiny feet, the colors, and patterns.
ETA: it’s an Underwing!
Since losing Cooper, our cockatiel, last week (no sighting of him yet), I am holding my dogs especially close. Our dogs are our family members so we take great care to keep them healthy. When thinking of the poisonous theme this week, chocolate is the first thing that popped into my head. Too much of a good thing can be poisonous to our four-legged friends. Chocolate contains theobromine and caffeine which can cause serious illness and even death.
Toronto 4-4-0 Type - 32 cents 1983 - Canadian stamp
For this week´s macro challenge our task assigned was to take a macro of something related to a hobby. In days gone by it was stamps for me - but life got in the way - now to figure what to do with all those little pieces of paper.
About the stamp - Issue date was October 3, 1983 - Printer was Ashton-Potter Limited. For those that care the Scott number is #999
Description:
The mid-1980 marked the centennial of "The Last Spike" and the 150th anniversary of the first Canadian railway, the Canada Post Corporation produced a series of train stamps.
In the 1850's some Canadian railroads began building their own locomotives to meet North American conditions. Among these was the Toronto, the first locomotive manufactured in Canada West, built in Toronto in 1853.
The locomotive stamps were designed by Ernst Roch of Montreal. The format chosen, which presents the locomotives in profile against a plain background colour, are ideal for presenting the mechanical complexity that makes locomotives so visually interesting. The principal challenge of designing these stamps was to simplify the engines to make a sufficiently strong graphic statement at stamp size without sacrificing significant detail.
Text taken from the release by Canada Post Corporation - Postage Stamp Press Release, 1983.
Happy Macro Monday to all ...
She loves me, she loves me not.
A marigold bloom on a picnic bench with a few petals pulled off.
Part of a mini-project "Placed"
As I graduated college in December, I wanted to show/document my life right after graduating. I’ve struggled to find work due to “lack of experience” or because I may not be a perfect fit for a company. So as I have been applying and learning other crafts during this time of unemployment, I took it upon myself to be vulnerable with my camera to showcase my life in this personal project.
Happy 10 Year Anniversary to Macro Monday! Even though I'm new to the group, I have felt very welcomed. To celebrate this auspicious occasion, I wanted to shoot glitter. Nothing says party like glitter! Back when I was a child, my grandmother used to adorn her Christmas gifts with glitter. She would meticulously outline Santas, sleigh bells, and gingerbread men with Elmer's glue, then carefully coat the glue with glitter. Once it had dried, she would shake off the excess and start on another part of the paper. The wrapping itself was a gift! My mother continued the tradition for a long while, and I did for a short while too... this is something I will definitely need to teach my children so that my grandmother's legacy lives on. All that glitters is beautiful and should be celebrated.
Day 12, January 12th, 2021
All the snow had melted from Sunday's beautiful and rare event, but Tuesday morning was cold enough to have a hard frost covering everything. Dominic and I left about 8:25 a.m. to get him to MECHS (and he's been driving). Unfortunately Anna had to stay home this week because she was exposed to a COVID-19 positive person last Friday. Once I got back home, I dashed outside with my macro to get a shot of the wintery frost. My fingers about froze but it was worth it. I love how ice looks covering the clover in our yard.

Leaf Patterns
This leaf is from one of the houseplants in the arrangement that Judy gave me. I’ll work on identification but I love the design of the leaf with the red veins and light green background. The dark green parts remind me of feathers!

1939, a nameless man in a nameless city somewhere in Europe carries out his quiet, ordinary life. Once World War II is about to break, his hometown is no longer a safe place. Strange woodland landscapes slowly show up in his mind, till a point where dreams and reality merge into a reborn existence…

This week's theme for the Flickr Macro Monday group is "Say Cheese." From this week's instructions:
"Say Cheese" is an idiom people use to get someone to smile when snapping their photo. However, no photos of people smiling (or frowning) for the camera will be allowed. Let's just say, NO PEOPLE at all for this theme. Other than that, you can be creative. There are so many different types of cheeses and cheese is an ingredient in a variety of delicious dishes. Just think of all the options you have for photo ops: gooey, melted, hard, blue, smoked, peppery, stringy, crumbly, cubes, doodles, crisps, wheels, shredded, sauces, sticks, cake, crackers, curls, shavings...that's a lot of cheesy goodness to choose from!
Glam Swiss
I've been vegetarian since 2013 and tried to go vegan for a short time. But there were two things I couldn't quite give up... cheese and frozen yogurt. One of Curtis's and my favorite late night snacks is cheese and crackers, especially after a glass of cabernet. We get this small variety pack of four cheeses to have on hand all the time. I've always loved swiss cheese, especially the tiny holes in the cheese. Swiss makes me think of tiny mice and old-fashioned cartoons, and I always make up a story when eating swiss. I wanted to glam up this cheese photo shoot, hence the sparkly bokeh.
Macro Mondays theme: Monday, Aug 20th is Multicolour with at least three different colours visible.
Caught this Bee on the Celosia this morning - figured I had at least three colours in this.
Happy Macro Monday to all ...
Ever since I had my thyroid gland removed in 2016, my eyebrows are virtually nonexistent. My brows are sparse and light, so I have to use an eyebrow pencil to draw them in. I have tried powders, pastes, and a variety of pencils. Thankfully, this L'Oreal pencil seems to do a pretty good job as long as the tip is sharpened. This is the last thing I do with my makeup routine to be ready for the day.
Macro Mondays theme: Monday, Aug 27th is to “Define Beauty” by illustrating it using both an image and a quotation about beauty.
"The beauty of the natural world lies in the details." -
Natalie Angier
Thought that this was appropriate for a Macro kind of day.
Happy Macro Monday to all ...
Macro Mondays theme: Monday, November 13th is Fingertip(s).
This little leaf caught my eye earlier on in the Fall and I wanted to photograph it, as it started to curl up I pressed it between pages in a book and forgot about it.
The leaf itself is 1 1/2 inch long and 1 1/4 inch wide. this area shown would be about 2 1/2 inches wide.
A bit of back lighting on this one.
Happy Macro Monday to all ...
Do you ever look around at your everyday world and think about how much you take for granted? So much has changed for humanity in the last two hundred years and it's often the most basic things that we take for granted: electricity, refrigeration, running water, and cooking with gas. In using my stove the other day to cook dinner, I thought of this theme... flame... and realized I give very little thought to simply turning a knob and having controlled fire in my home with which to cook. It really is an amazing invention! This particular burner is the tiny one on my stovetop... merely 2.25" across... and it generates enough heat to warm a small pan of soup very quickly. We really are so very fortunate.

Day 337, Friday, December 3rd, 2021
Oreo Ice Cream
My favorite flavor of homemade ice cream to make so far is Oreo. I keep tweaking the recipe and now I think I have it just about perfected. I take just the outer chocolate cookie part of the Oreo and crush up about 2 cups worth of cookies in my Vitamix blender. Mom snags the cream filling to use on graham crackers for a treat the next day. I add the crushed Oreo powder to the ice cream base after about 20 minutes in the ice cream maker. After putting the ice cream into a container to freeze, I swirl in another cup of crumbled Oreos to get the bigger cookie chunks. Yum!

It's been a month since I've done Macro Monday and I'm so excited to be back to show off my anniversary gift from my husband. I had been wearing a plain silver band purchased from Target for many years (having gotten too heavy to wear my first engagement and wedding rings) and hinted that for our 20th wedding anniversary I would love a simple diamond anniversary band. We had money saved for our amazing trip to Italy (photos coming soon!) so this was a total surprise. Well done, baby... well done. <3<3<3
I chose a simple "bird-in-flight" image to wrap up my current #personalproject about our stormy Lake Erie. It may not be the most technical image made that day, but it captures the vibe of the moment for me. Have a safe new year - I hope you weather the storms of the moment with only a few ruffled feathers.
