This was taken in Dayton, Ohio at Wegerzyn Gardens with my 135mm lens + 20mm Extension tube. This is on the front cover of next years calendar 2017 that my Sister makes of Chubby's flower pictures for the last six years called Up Close & Personal which she gives out as a present at Christmas time to her friends. Better view in light box. Click on image for 100% detail on organs.
As always thank you for your lovely comments.
The cows may be the only ones who truly appreciate the return of the Starlings. This one is for the Smile on Saturday group whose theme is “ animal face”.
Taken at Dreaming Angels Studio in conjunction with Unzipped Magazine.

Is so important for overall health and date night. Last night was my first time in the kayak this year. Finally that crazy wind disappeared. There was still some ice which made for some interesting pics. I found these (Bonaparte's Gulls?) quite entertaining as I never see them here and apparently so did the eagle perched in a tree behind me. I wondered if he dined on them or not, he looked very full and satisfied. This was my third time trying to get close where they didn't fly away... I guess they figured out I wasn't much of a threat after all. I caught a chill I couldn't get rid of until I took a hot bath when I got home but it sure was great to be out on the water after a long winter. For anyone who wants to know, my Loons are back.
This healthy looking fox had just finished eating his (or her) fill of black sunflower seeds spilled over from a bird feeder platform. He was in good company with two or three red squirrels and a variety of birds all keeping a wary eye on him - not to mention a number of eager photographers (myself included) happily snapping away on a balcony perched above. You would think he might be camera shy but no worries, he was completely unconcerned and trotted a bit further away, where he lay down in the snow for a little personal hygiene. An hour later, he was still at it. No wonder it was such a pristine looking animal.
Humanity has evolved through the years. With the help of science and technology we have made our lives better and easier. And we all try to make our personal illusions true. Yet sometimes we struggle. We struggle when we live packed together in our small concrete boxes. We struggle as we have to face a new type of difficulties. Whether this is being disconnected from each other or the routine that kills our creativity and the real, face to face, communication. And some people have to fight even for things that most of us consider as given. These people deserve our respect and we should be looking up to them. We should be proud of finding them among thousands of faces we see every day when we commute to work, when we go out for a walk, when our eyes randomly meet a stranger's eyes, or when we "meet" people virtually. These people have strong eyes and clean souls. each and every one of us carries his own "load" and we do it proudly. But some among us have to do it without relying on help from anybody. And that's admirable. Modern day life is different, modern day life can be hard. Let's look at the person next to us and smile at him as behind his eyes there may be a story full of personal sacrifices and struggles.

(the song's lyrics)
We live our little stories
in the city's downtown and its neighborhoods
drunken dreams, cancelled plans
desperate phonecalls
then again I think maybe you weren't
what I've dreamed of
but I remember one night I saw the eyes of sadness
smilling at me
Maybe I wasn't what you've dreamed I was
after all, it's just personal illusions
I feel like I'm losing you ...
my sweet love goodnight

"Heure hindoue, rentrer tard
Over the rainbow
Over the rainbow
Heures hindoues, imprécises
Et tu voudrais que je t'emmène, alors viens
Dans la vie martienne"
Etienne Daho - "Heures Indoues"
II know I spend far too much time trying to photograph blue jays. I find it a personal affront that they seek to do their best to hide behind the first layer of foliage when they fly away so you can't get their photo.
So, it was with great glee that I tracked this one into a tree where he thought he was invisible but he did not take into account the angle I had on him which gave me a tunnel through the leaves to where he was sitting.
By the way, did you spot the moth that he has captured?
