Somerset County, N.J., Corizon Health Social Worker Jennifer Seminara recently demonstrated an outstanding commitment to a patient – and to Corizon Health’s SMART values – Safety, Motivation, Accountability, Respect, and Teamwork - by finding an alternative to pre-trial incarceration for a developmentally disabled patient. The patient has a genetic disorder called Noonan Syndrome that prevents normal development in various parts of the body.
Placing the patient in general population within the correctional facility was not a safe option due to her physical and psychological impairments. Effects of Noonan Syndrome include unusual facial characteristics, short stature, heart defects or other physical and developmental problems. For her own safety, she was being housed in the medical unit.
Facility and medical administration asked for Jennifer’s assistance in finding an appropriate solution for this patient to receive emergency housing through the Department of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) while awaiting trial for the charges against her. Social Worker Seminara collaborated to develop a workable plan for the patient with the Somerset County Office of the Public Defender and the Criminal Justice Advocacy Program of The Arc of New Jersey, a national community-based organization that advocates for and serves the needs of people living with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The process took about a month, but after a series of meetings and evaluations, the patient was placed in an emergency group home and allowed court-supervised visits with her family. Jennifer also assisted in finding a licensed psychiatrist to complete a competency evaluation, in coordination with the public defender’s office, upon the successful completion of the patient’s transfer to emergency housing. Ms. Seminara then continued to follow-up on the case to ensure the DDD followed the process of assisting the patient with placement into a permanent group home at the conclusion of her criminal case.
The persistence and dedication of this Corizon Health social worker undoubtedly contributed to the safety of this patient while in custody, as well as helping to ensure she continued to receive care upon release.
I finally have some time to work on some of my China photos!! This gentleman was unbelievable....I was mesmerized by the beauty of his work. I thought it was interesting that he was using a bicycle peddle to hold down his work.

New edition to my Salvador Dali collection.
This ones an "after" Dali lithograph.
I bought it because I wanted to get any of his prints that had this one graphic editors markings , especially the finger print shown.
It was one of three prints that came up on ebay a while ago (from the same seller) -
All of them had the finger print.
I actually was surprised to get this as cheap as I did as seller contacted me and sold it to me as a "second chance" offer.
I lost the auction but he sold it at my 2nd highest bid price.
The graphic editor ( Harmon) got Dali's finger print after Dali could no longer sign prints due to his illness , before death and used them to allegedly authenticate the lithographs.
Actually this shouldn't be considered an "original" Dali litho as I am sure he didn't do anything as far as the production of it ,
including allowing the size changes or additional images added to the original "Persistence of Memory"

Getting Started with Natural Horsemanship

Over the June 23/24 weekend we had a get started with Natural Horsemanship clinic and learning to advance your skills clinic. The Saturday focused on learning to get really good basics with your horse.
It is really important to have really crisp, clear, and easy to understand body language between you and your horse. This is because if your horse can understand very precisely to back up, move just the shoulder, move just the haunches, move sideways, or go forward then you can combine cues to make things more advanced and fun.
Some tips to having really good basics:
- only perfect practice makes perfect: so make sure to always end on a positive note that is better than how you left it, and double check you are using proper technique
- give a long ideal cue: give your horse a long chance to notice and respond to your ideal, then add pressure quickly so your horse is motivated to respond to the ideal cue
- don't give up: have the patient persistence to keep asking and trying until the horse starts to respond the way you want
- put it to a purpose: once you have some basic understanding, start to play with your horse so that you don't become a drill sergeant
Sunday was a day when we learned how to advance our skills and really have fun with horse. This means we used all of our basic cues and then learned how to have fun with it while building better trust, communication, and respect.
Some ideas for putting basic cues to purpose:
- backwards figure 8
- backwards weave pattern
- halt halfway over poles
- go sideways over poles
- back up over poles
- do traveling circles
- go over a tarp
- push a giant ball
- follow me (on the ground have the horse stay beside you as you walk, trot, etc)
The key message after the clinic was to be aware of your body language and how to use it to communicate with your horse.
Key tip this week: Establish really good basics with your horse. Make sure you can move them in all different direction. Once you have understanding, then have some fun and put the cues into patterns like a backwards weave pattern. This helps to make it fun, fresh, different, and more like a conversation.

The goldfinch's preferred food is small seeds such as those from thistles (the Latin name is from Carduus, a genus of thistles) and teasels, but insects are also taken when feeding young. It also regularly visits bird feeders in winter. They nest in the outer twigs of tall leafy trees, or even in bamboo, laying four to six eggs which hatch in 11–14 days.
In the winter goldfinches group together to form flocks of up to forty birds, occasionally more.
The song is a pleasant silvery twittering. The call is a melodic tickeLIT, and the song is a pleasant tinkling medley of trills and twitters, but always including the trisyllabic call phrase or a teLLIT-teLLIT-teLLIT.
In earlier times, the Goldfinch was kept as a cagebird for its song. Escapes from captivity and deliberate releases have colonised southeastern Australia and New Zealand.

Goldfinches are attracted to back gardens in Europe and North America by birdfeeders containing niger (commercially described as nyjer) seed. This seed of an annual from South Asia is small, and high in oils. Special polycarbonate feeders with small oval slits at which the Goldfinches feed are sometimes used.

Goldfinches are commonly kept and bred in captivity around the world because of their distinctive appearance and pleasant song. The Goldfinch males are sometimes crossed with Canary females with the intention to produce male mules with beautiful singing voices, that often capture the best singing attributes of both breeds.

Because of the thistle seeds it eats, in Christian symbolism the Goldfinch is associated with the Passion and Christ's Crown of Thorns. The Goldfinch, appearing in pictures of the Madonna and the Christ Child, represents the foreknowledge Jesus and Mary had of the Crucifixion. Examples include the Madonna del cardellino or Madonna of the Goldfinch, painted (c. 1505-1506) by the Italian renaissance artist Raphael, in which John the Baptist offers the goldfinch to Christ in warning of his future. In Barocci's Holy Family a goldfinch is held in the hand of John the Baptist who holds it high out of reach of an interested cat. In Cima da Conegliano's Madonna and Child, a goldfinch flutters in the hand of the Christ Child. It is also an emblem of endurance, fruitfulness, and persistence. Because it symbolizes the Passion, the goldfinch is considered a "saviour" bird and may be pictured with the common fly (which represents sin and disease).[6] The Goldfinch is also associated with Saint Jerome and appears in some of his depictions.[6]
Antonio Vivaldi composed a Concerto in D major for Flute "Il Gardellino" (RV 428, Op. 10 No. 3), where the singing of the Goldfinch is imitated by a flute.

Planted several years ago and not since, Grandpa Ott morning glories pop up every year in the garden. Enough flower and produce seeds, which survive the central Illinois winters, to hang around year after year. They look so nice I don't mind them winding around the air conditioner and cable TV wires that snake into the house.

Native warm-season perennial
erect hairless C4 grass; to 100 cm tall and with well-developed stolons. Stems are branched and flattened near their base. Flowerheads are digitate with 3-5 branches; each 4-10 cm long, arranged in one plane and often drooping. Spikelets are 2-flowered (sometimes 3) and pale green to purplish-black, with a blunt apex; the upper awn is shorter than the spikelet.
Flowers from late spring to autumn. Mostly found in woodlands, native pastures and disturbed areas (e.g. roadsides); usually on better (often heavier) soils that are not subject to waterlogging. Native biodiversity. Has high drought tolerance, but low to moderate frost tolerance. Has moderate forage value and is readily grazed by cattle during summer. Acts as a useful soil stabiliser due to its stoloniferous habit. Can withstand regular defoliation, but rests from grazing aid its persistence and spread.
While some have a good study environment and complete computer set-ups, others have to double their effort and energy in order to reach the pinnacle of their academic endeavors with the rise of distance learning. Since the pandemic began, Philippines is one of the remaining five countries in the world that have not yet started face-to-face classes. As soon as I saw this young boy scrolling on his phone while walking along the Maloro bridge with an envelope in his arm, that I suspect to be his printed learning materials as it quite looks similar with the ones my younger siblings have back at home, I immediately immortalized the moment. Reminding me about how we differ in levels of privileges.
