This sunset was one of many taken by my father on the beach at ELWA radio station in Liberia circa 1964. Probably on his Pentax Spotmatic with an Asahi 50mm F1.4 lens and Kodak film. He gave me my first camera, a Rolleicord, when he got his first Pentax along with a light meter. I can remember spending hours in the darkroom with him.
He lived a long life of 88 years and he never lost his interest in photography, computers and all things scientific which he shared with all his children. We're all gathering this week to celebrate his life and I've been busy sorting through his photos that have been scanned to put together a photo tribute to him.
I thought you all would appreciate seeing an old image recovered from a somewhat dirty, scratched up slide and the beauty that was captured on film.
The Asahi Pentax Super-Takumar 50mm F1.4 that I use was his and was probably the lens used to take this picture.

As always, any corrections to my identifications of specific sites are more than welcome. I believe this is the Bridge of Kokkoros or Noutsos, but if not, feel free to correct me.

Construction began in 447 BC when the Athenian Empire was at the peak of its power. It was completed in 438 BC, although decoration of the building continued until 432 BC. It is the most important surviving building of Classical Greece, generally considered the zenith of the Doric order.
Like most Greek temples, the Parthenon served a practical purpose as the city treasury. For a time, it served as the treasury of the Delian League, which later became the Athenian Empire. In the final decade of the 6th century AD, the Parthenon was converted into a Christian church dedicated to the Virgin Mary.

At the dock is the former armored cruiser Averof (Θ/Κ Γεώργιος Αβέρωφ), in use as a training ship. Acquired from Italy in 1910, the Averof ruled the Aegean and the eastern Mediterranean in the early years of the 20th century. Since this picture was taken, she was refurbished and moved to Phaleron, where she now serves as a floating museum, docked in the Marina Flisvos.
