Gramma and Aunt Jeanne led my children on a deviant adventure into the world of chocolate and sugar and cupcakes.
This photo was taken at a huge colony located on Right Whale Bay where many of the King Penguins were in varying stages of moulting. During moulting the birds can not go to sea. They stand near the stream/water to keep cool.
Interesting Fact: African penguins are also known as jackass penguins, because they make a sound that is very similar to a donkey's bray. {www.neaq.org/animals_and_exhibits/animals/​african_​p...}
Hey, don't look at me! We told this knucklehead that penguins can't fly long ago. We just call him Pan now and let him do his thing! :)
