Kerrick found his way back to us, but only through the help of Pazuzu. He was too far gone for Shiel's ritual to help, but he clearly sensed something was wrong.
Close to the door to the main structure, he fades back into existence. One more failed save against the confusion, and he would have gone through that door. The result of that would not have been beneficial.
