HMM-- the theme for today, 7/15, is "patterns in nature" and this is one possibility for posting :)

Lots of pink & purple & orange this month.

Agave vizcainoensis Black and White. I love the imprinted patterns on Agave leaves that remain from when the leaves were developing in their tight bud. I think the black and white helps bring that out a little better than color.

The Flickr Lounge ... Weekly Theme ... patterns in nature

Nature has many different characteristics and sides. All you need to do is pay attention to the details and it will take you into a different world.

Late afternoon sun accentuates the multiple scales of sand textures- ripples, waves, ridges, dips, and grains. Footprints across the bottom of the dune towards the middle provides some scale to the scene. (see mikegreenimages.com/2012/10/03/musings-on-obfuscating-sca... for interesting musings on scale in landscape shots)

The dunes are the result of sand blown from an ancient lake bed in the rift valley to the west (left of the photo), and occasional strong winds blown from mountain passes in the Sangre de Cristos from the east. The combination of these opposing winds has built up the dunes to heights of over 700 feet (200 m) above the valley floor.

Maybe I’ll do a daily diptych for a little while.

"We artists have been affected by patterns in nature since day one. Every line we lay to paper and every move we make is part of the magical sequence - and the line goes where it needs to go depending on one's influences."

the vivid green at this time of the year is fabulous. The lizard was undisturbed, with its body flattened to catch as much warmth as possible. Go large and lose yourself in the maze of colours..

Taken for the subject of pattern for the monthly competetion.
