"The Oort Cloud" by the French artist Jean-Michel Othoniel in Franeker refers to the astronomer Jan Hendrik Oort who was born in Franeker and came up with the hypothesis that an Oort cloud must be located in the outer regions of the solar system, far away from the planets. The cloud is symbolized by the mist rising above the fountain. The water runs down from a large bowl. This is supported by a kind of dark pearl necklaces. One pearl has the color of the moon and one has the color of the sun.

''De Oortwolk" door de franse kunstenaar Jean-Michel Othoniel in Franeker refereert aan de astronoom Jan Hendrik Oort die in Franeker geboren is en met de hypothese kwam dat zich in de buitenste regionen van het zonnestelsel een Oortwolk moest bevinden, ver verwijderd van de planeten. De wolk wordt gesymboliseerd door de nevel die bovenuit de fontein opstijgt. Het water loopt vanuit een grote schaal naar beneden. Deze wordt ondersteund door een soort donkere parelkettingen. Een parel heeft de kleur van de maan en een heeft de kleur van de zon.

Il nome di questa farfalla Aglaia appartiene ad una figura della mitologia greca e deriva da Aglaos che significa splendente, bellissimo. In sanscrito Agla-y significa colui che porta il fuoco.
In entrambi i significati il nome è azzeccatissimo per questa farfalla splendente e bellissima dal colore arancio molto caldo. A dire il vero le farfalle con le caratteristiche di colori, disegni (soprattutto della parte superiore) e dimensioni molto simili sono tre: A. adippe, A. aglaja e A. niobe, che sono praticamente indistinguibili senza un'attenta osservazione e la verifica della parte inferiore delle ali posteriori.
La Argynnis aglaja è complessivamente la farfalla più comune delle tre, diffusa in tutta Europa in piccole colonie anche a basse altitudini, anche se in Italia è più comune sopra i 1000 metri. La parte superiore delle ali, come detto, è di un bellissimo arancione con disegni neri, mentre la pagina inferiore delle ali posteriori presenta, come quasi tutte le farfalle del suo genere, delle brillanti macchie bianche con uno sfondo verdognolo accentuato, che la rende facilmente distinguibile.
E' una buona volatrice che ama gli spazi aperti ed è dotata di un volo rapido. Fortunatamente sosta frequentemente a suggere il nettare dai capolini di cardi e centauree, il che consente di osservarla e di fotografarla con una certa facilità.
Il periodo di volo va da Giugno ad Agosto e la larva si nutre di specie del genere Viola.

Last week I visited Berlin. 24 hours aren’t much time unless you are Jack Bauer the main character of 24. I came to visit my good old friends. If you read this, thanks for everything, it was a great time.
Of course I took come shots of the great architectural scene over there. The first is of a place called Sony Center. It has a roof which is made from parts that are supposed to look like sails.
As I really love sailing this planets oceans the roof was of course fascinating to me. If you ever go there be sure to bring a wide lens. The roof is really huge. You are not able to capture the whole thing with a 18mmm on a crop camera!
However… The locations also reminds me on all these movies where people sit in a spaceship shooting around with guns in front of these huge glass wall with the space in the background.
If you have ever seen a movie like this you might know what I am talking about
