A worn out barn leans on a silo companion to help it through one more storm rolling across the plains. One advantage of getting old is that we gradually realize there is only one Final Storm in life that is beyond our endurance.

I was trying a technique of using a Wide angle lens up close and using my dog Cooper as my test subject. To get him to try and sit or lay for me I was bribing him with his dog treats. Here was one of the last shots I took and he was such a good boy, well deserving of his snack!

I told Hershey and Cooper that Karen was coming, they sat patiently near the front door waiting for her. I was able to photograph them doing so.

Almost didn't notice him so still and at dusk.

A490 holds at South Marsh for one. Thanks Bruce for letting me get this close.

@Doors Open Pittsburgh this past weekend. This guy was just waiting, contently, for me to get the hell out of his shot. lol

After waiting patiently, the evening sun finally managed to pierce the cloud on the horizon, instantaneously transforming the scene in front of my lens. Impressive fiery red sunlight illuminates the rock forms of Belstone Ridge, which compliment the beautiful rich greens of the surrounding summer landscape. Well worth the wait! Thanks for looking. Have been out for a little walk and was looking for the fire salamander. Nevertheless, I did not expect to actually see him in the very first try! I was already on the way back to the car park. Light was fading out and was becoming too dark for handheld photography. Then I nearly walked into this pretty little dinosaur! And how patient he was! I was able to take pictures of him for over 20 minutes. That made it possible to lay down completely flat to the ground. Have been using my base cap as a tripod. Set the lens to manual focus, due to auto focus failed in the low light conditions. Deactivated image stabilization and raised ISO to 6400. This shot is taken at 192 mm with f/4 and 5 seconds of exposure time.

Patiently awaiting his/her turn at the backyard bird-feeder ... Can you feel the cold on this very windy January morning?

Edited with a white matte frame.

Sunday morning I took a nature walk along dunes that border Lake Michigan behind the Blue Harbor Resort.
