This is a stretch of road out in Strasburg that calls my name when the storms inside rage. Honestly if I could find a house to plop out in the middle of that vast prairie I would. Sitting there I can close my eyes and hear the somber whispers of the wind. It is somber but there is no reproach. Instead the wind flows soothingly over and around me til the storms began to quiet down much like a fussing infant that finally drifts to sleep. The clouds come and go and although time passes it's as if it has stood quietly next to me watching itself in another life. I've never followed this road to the end, surprisingly I have no idea where it goes! But I'm ok with that for now, as the old quote goes in my own words of course, it's not the destination that matters only the steps we take to get there.

A lonely walker and their silent companion, journeying into the mist.

Looks Great On Black

A dirt trail in the middle of a forest no signs, no destination, just silence. Captured in early spring, somewhere between city and wilderness.

A path to nowhere a representation of life

I wonder why there is a pathway leading straight into the sea!! A little strange .... last of my shots from Dunure, yesterday!

After the disappointment behind the door, Bingo and Frankencow decided to walk down the long corridor and see what they could find. Eventually, Frankie noticed a side hall and she and Bingo decided it was worth exploring.

Almost immediately their surroundings changed. A paved path twisted and turned before them. Bingo decided it was time for a rest.

"Okay," Frankie said, "I think we should just keep following this path. It has to lead somewhere."

"Yeah, sure," Bingo replied, "maybe right up to the door of the big bad wolf. I say we turn back and try a different route."

"Why are you being difficult?" Frankie asked. Usually she was the doubter, the one who held back.

"I'm just trying to keep us safe," Bingo said defensively. "You seem hell-bent on just getting us beheaded or something."

Frankie's look became obstinate. "I'm going to follow this path. I have a feeling about it."

"Well, I'm not willing to wander blindly down a path that leads who knows where," Bingo answered, just as stubborn as Frankencow.

"You're both headed for trouble," said a third voice, coming from up ahead.

Frankie and BIngo both turned to see who was there, but it was so close to dark that all they could make out was a form lying on a park bench.

"It's a bum," Bingo said out of the side of his mouth. "Be real still and maybe he won't see us."

"He already knows we're here!" Frankie answered in the same manner, but she didn't dare move a muscle.

Possibly there once was an entrance into Occombe Valley Woods here, but the fence is now so overgrown that people cannot even dump rubbish into the woods anymore.

A pic a day...

I hear its all the rage nowadays? ;)

This is usually a very lovely park with green grass and plenty of land to kick a ball about and run, walk dogs, etc. However, we have had so much rain in th UK, that this has now flooded and gone under water. I am standing on a fairly high footbridge that goes over a small river, but as you can see it has burst its banks and there is no longer a way forward unless you swim... ;)

*note* where you see water, is usually green grass...

This is my quickest route to cycle to my parents house, so now I have to make a huge detour via a very busy main road, taking my life in my own hands... which isn't much fun I can tell you.

But on a very serious note, I send lots of warm wishes and huge hugs to any flickroonies who have been affected by the floods, damaging their homes and belongings.

...Dungeness 2011.

wife walking the path to nowhere, autumn walk

Sitting on the stairs for a few moments of break. Of course the path to nowhere has a broken lamp. That's the way.

A few minutes later, a kid and his father came by. The little boy HAD to explore this path, of course. Luckily for him, dad was up for the adventure as well.

We all walk different paths. Sometimes we walk alone and sometimes others join us along those paths. Those paths merge and separate and often we stand at a crossroads staring down each path "as far as it goes until it bends in the underbrush". Other times we walk by those crossroads oblivious of the other path. Sometimes the path is straight and we can see what lies ahead, while other times bends, dips and hills obscure what may wait for us around the bend.

Along the path are many travellers, some that journey with you for a short time, and some that travel the same road for a lifetime. Some may come and go, only to be seen again shortly, or miles and miles hence. Some stick with you through the storms and you help each other to cross the bridges that have washed out. Some appear and walk with you through duck poop and runaway-freight trains. I treasure all that walk with me along this path, whether a new found beau or the friend that knows me deeper than anyone else.

The path is circuitous, with many dips and turns. I cannot always see the path ahead but I know there are those who will walk it with me.

The Grandeur of Belton park in the fading light. I have captured a solar flare, the light streams across the land illuminating any bleaters on the way. However i'm sure they will recover from the grazing experience.

Klaus leading his Photo/Hiking trip at Lake Louisa State Park

On a snowy October 9th, two months after our last venture down to this area, my parents, grandma, and I set out to visit the family farm near Haynes, North Dakota. Actually it is located quite literally in the middle of Haynes and Hettinger.

The building in the left is the side of the machine shed. This area was my grandma's garden. I guess it went all the way back behind the machine shed and this area was filled with strawberry bushes and vegetables galore. It's kind of sad to see what it is now. Just a lonely path to nothing.

Paths lead forward. You can look behind you and see where you have been. You can stop for a while to catch your breath. But sooner or later you need to go forward. The road may look lonely and cold, but the footprints tell of other travelers. Perhaps one is waiting around the next dune, or beyond that wall, decorated with colored paint.

i know the sky looks (kinds) fake, but it is not...used one of Matt's presets on it...i think it is called deep blue sky, other than that i just added a vignette around it
