Clearly flooded paths are a hazard of this stretch as my guidebook even offered an alternative route. It told me to go down the very narrow bank of the river. This meant clambering over a (very bent and twisted) wire fence, and bending almost double to make my way through the – clearly well used – bank.
Path leading from the lane to Croonaert Chapel Military cemetery.Just on the left where the trees are. The cemetery is situated in No Mans land between what was the German and British front lines during WW1.

The multi use path along California Highway 1 (Cabrillo Highway) north of Santa Cruz is blocked by a fallen tree. The path just south of this point is littered with eucalyptus bark and twigs, probably from the storms a couple of weeks ago.
Taken during my ride this morning. IT was a lovely day for a ride -- sunny and mild with a very very light breeze. I rode along the Pacific coast where the surf was breaking furiously with thunderous roars in spots -- I could see the breakers clearing the 30 foot cliffs along the coast in Santa Cruz County. *kapow*!

March on. Do not tarry. To go forward is to move toward perfection. March on, and fear not the thorns, or the sharp stones on life's path.
