As a child I was taught that a "stranger" is a person who you do not know. A "stranger" is someone who is very bad, and wants to hurt you. Yet, it was never mentioned that a "stranger" could possibly be a family member or a friend of the family or someone you knew. It was always an outside source.
This is a series of paintings that takes a childhood game, hide and seek, with a bit of a twist to it. Each image is a representation of the penis or the vagina (phallic, sexual innuendos), and includes objects of interest to me as a kid.
The story goes:
Today I played hide and seek...
So I hid behind the shack in the back yard...
I heard him come around twice...
I went back further into the bushes...
He heard me and he found me...
It is from a childs point of view which represents sexual molestation during prebuescent adolescents.

كَانوا الأجمَل وسط العين دَائمًا .. كَانوا الأطهَر ، كانوا الأقرَب للـ. رُوح !
سقطوا .. حِين تعلّق خنجرهم وسط الظهر بـ قَسوَة ،
من قَال لهم أن يزرعُوا جحودهُم فِي طِيب أرضِي ؟
لِمَ حصدتُ ألَمًا يفتكُ بـ. القَلب !
جُروحهم تجدّد كلّما لمحتُ وجوههم ،
بين المَلامح تنبتُ كُل الطعنَات مرّة أخرى ..
كُنتُ أُحبّهم أكثر منّي !
وما كسَر ظهري إلاّ أننّي قد إختنقتُ بـ. شَر نفوسهِم ،
حين تعطّرُوا هُم بـ. طِيبي !
" الثّقَة " .. إهتزّتْ .. بكل الأشيَاء ،
بعد أن ثبتَ في العُمر خُذلانهم لدَمَاء نتشارك بها جميعًا !
قَد حَاولت .. أن أتجاوَز صدمَتي بـ. خُروج الظّفر عَن اللحم ،
و .. [ فشلت ] !
ولازلتُ أحَاول .. وأفشل !
سـ. أرمِي جُروحهم .. لعلّي أتشافى منها ،
إلى .. سلة مهملات الذاكرة !
