Another ultra wide angle view. This time in 5:4 format. Again, the use of a Lee 3 stop ND grad just to smooth out the water a touch.

Yesterday didn't quite go to plan. More storm than light. Quite brutal at times with wind, rain and hail. I did catch a few rainbows including a faint one here.
Realised I've only ever posted one photo form Parson's Tor even though I've been many times. The light was quite nice at this time, if a little weak.
Found inside an abandoned paper mill somewhere in southern Germany. This huge industrial complex consists of paper fabrication, laboratories and an on-site power plant.

The beautiful Tui is still one of my favourite birds. They look black from a distance, but in good light tui have a blue, green and bronze iridescent sheen, and distinctive white throat tufts (poi). They are usually very vocal, with a complicated mix of tuneful notes interspersed with coughs, grunts and wheezes.

Probably not what the "Winter Wonderland" songwriter had in mind, but I think this is as close to a holiday-themed photo I have this Christmas.
I accidentally upended this Eastern Parson Spider's shelter. Its silken retreat is still caught on his limbs. He can pack a painful bite (with venomous effects if you're small enough) but luckily he was not feeling very aggressive.

The Parson Russell Terrier is a bold and clever terrier, swift enough to run with horses and fearless enough to dig in and flush a fox from his lair. Independent problem solvers, Parson Russell Terriers can have their own ideas on how to go about things.

This block of buildings that was completely vacant in 2015 was completely renovated and occupied by 2018.
The overnight stay in Parsons was cool and the engine was situated for some nice Night Shots. The RR employees who were charged with keeping an eye on things were extremely friendly and accommodating so long as everyone listened and did what they asked of them as well as getting WELL out of the way when a train would be passing by on the siding. I'm happy to report that for the time I was there, that's exactly what everyone did and so people were pretty much free to do night shots for the entire overnight -- it's *really* not rocket science, people!

Captured at Parsons Beach just before midnight on Wednesday. This was the same night that the Geminids meteor shower was visible but I think I was a bit too early to capture too many meteors.
The different colour bands are whats known as Airglow (also called nightglow) which is a faint emission of light by a planetary atmosphere. In the case of Earth's atmosphere, this optical phenomenon causes the night sky to never be completely dark, even after the effects of starlight and diffused sunlight from the far side are removed.
