Parador de Cuenca is a hotel in a sixteenth century convent above the gorge and the town.
World Heritage City.
Parar ahí, con esas vistas a las montañas y tomar un cafetín caliente, con una galletina de chocolate y coco, es lo mas!
The splendid, if occasionally jaded, late Georgian / early Victorian houses and hotels cosying up to the cliff on Marine Parade in Dawlish have a grandstand view of both the railway line and the sea-front. Something the lucky residents will no doubt appreciate, especially on dour, damp autumn days.
For anyone watching now they will see Cross Country's 9.42am Newcastle - Plymouth Saturday's only HST service (1V54) hurrying by trying to make up some 10 minutes of late running. Sadly it was an ask too far on this occasion with arrival in Plymouth also 10 minutes behind schedule.
Doing the honours are power cars 43321 up front, and 43207 nearest the camera. The train is just about to enter Kennaway Tunnel, one of several short ones on the stretch to Teignmouth as the line alternates between burrowing through the cliffs and riding alongside the exposed seawall just feet from the water.
When the shot was taken the seawall path was closed as a prelude to engineering work to raise it and better protect the railway from the increasingly frequent and damaging winter storms - work that is now complete.

Dressed up for the Corpus Christi parade in València, Spain, which was about to start. Snacking first.

It looks a bit overcast but the temperature was quite mild on this walk to the seafront with Tim. I was on a mission to look for stones to bring home and paint - shhh, I know it's not really allowed, but I don't think it would be obvious there are some missing! As it turned out, most of them were too small but I brought a few home from further up the beach!
Here you can see South Parade Pier and a couple of deckchairs - quite a rare sight on our beach despite them being manufactured by a company called 'Southsea Deckchairs', whose warehouse is next door to the one Tim works in!!

Chicago & North Western 6919 leads 100 well cars across Center Street in Pleasant Grove, Utah on March 3, 1996. The 20 sets of five-unit stack cars will be tied down on an out of service section of the Provo Subdivision near Point of the Mountain.
