This paperfactory, hidden among the pine trees, has had a rich history. It was built in the beginning of the 20th century, in quite hostile terrain, and had more than 300 employees working on the site. During it's existence it has had many ups and downs, but it managed to remain active during the century. At one point the company was on the brink of bankruptcy, and luckily there was a possibility of acquisition. Unfortunately this did not last long, and according to people who worked here, the company stopped existing due to failing and corrupt management. It has now been left alone in the woods...

luckily no fatalities as a fire hit a paper factory in Barangay Bagumbayan, Libis, Quezon City (QC) yesterday evening, 12 November 2015.
I processed this photo with the Tonal Contrast and Glamor Glow filters from the Color Efex Pro 3 filter set. Tonal Contrast allows you to adjust the contrast of the highlights, midtones and shadows separately, plus colour saturation. The overall opacity can be adjusted to control the strength of the filter, or the effect can be applied selectively using any of the available selection tools or brushes (that's true of all the CFX3 filters). Fiddling around with the sliders can result in an HDR-like effect, among many other possibilities. I applied just a touch of the Glamor Glow filter and desaturated the entire image. I'm happy with the grainy result.

Urbex Benelux -
The 1960s were mainly characterized by expansion and economic growth. The factory became a world-renowned paper company. It was during this time that the centenary of the factory was celebrated lavishly.
At the end of 1974, a general crisis ensued that hit the factory badly. Competition from the Eastern bloc and Italy caused prices to drop by up to 30 percent. In 1977 no improvement was noticeable and a reorganization led to 260 layoffs.
