I created these for the vintage themed journals. I used various vintage papers then applied the Gelli Plate to the overall page. Definition of Chine Colle - Well, chine-collé is a special printmaking technique in which paper of a different color or texture is adhered to the overall piece. The paper, usually in pre-cut shapes, is actually bonded to the heavier support paper of the print in the printmaking process. Oh, how sweetly does the heart behold this feast of nature and innocent remembrance! Here, upon this canvas, are gathered the gifts of the earth — ruby berries ripening beneath the bounteous sun, and forest fruits that hold within them all the purity of rustic life. The butterflies, those tender creatures, flutter among the sweetmeats as though they were souls who have forgotten earthly burdens and given themselves over to the joy of being alone.
A humble white daisy, modest daughter of the fields, bows her head amid the scarlet currants, reminding the sensitive eye of the simple pleasures of country leisure. And here, too, an old television set, a friend of childhood, holding within it images dear to the heart — is this not an allegory of memory, which tenderly preserves every moment of our happiness?
A raccoon in curious garb, a maiden in a crimson gown, a chocolate cake — symbol of the hearth and of family celebration — all entwine into one fragrant wreath, that it might move the beholder to a tear of tenderness and awaken in them the gentlest, most elevated feelings.
This is Holiday — not a clamorous festivity, but a quiet, heartfelt solace, nourishing the spirit with memories of innocence and natural beauty.
