Chaukori is a hill station in the Pithoragarh district set among the lofty peaks of the western Himalayan Range in the Kumaon Division of Uttarakhand, India. To its north is Tibet and to its south is Terai. The Mahakali River, running along its eastern boundary, forms the Indo-Nepal international border.
Chaukori is located in Berinag Tehsil of Pithoragarh district in Uttarakhand, India. It is situated 10km away from sub-district headquarter Berinag and 86km away from district headquarter Pithoragarh. Chaukori's elevation is 2010 m with spectacular panoramic views of the snowy peaks of Nanda Devi, Nanda Kot and the Panchchuli group.

The highest peak is Panchchuli II, which was first scaled by an Indo-Tibetan Border Police expedition, led by Mahendra Singh, on 26 May 1973. One theory of the group's name is derived from the legendary Pandavas's "Five Chulis" (cooking hearths).

The first ascent of this peak was done by Indo-Tibet Border Police (ITBP) team in 1972, via Uttari Balati glacier, led by Hukam Singh. The coordinates of this peak are Latitude 30°13'12" Longitude 80° 25'12".
Panchchuli-2 (6,904 m)
This is the highest peak in the group. It was first climbed successfully by an Indo-Tibetan Border Police team, led by Mahendra Singh, on 26 May 1973. They climbed from the Balati plateau and via the southwest ridge to the summit. The coordinates of the peak are Latitude 30°12'51" Longitude 80°25'39".[1]
Panchchuli-3 (6,312 m)
This peak is climbed successfully in 2001 through south eastern ridge. The coordinates of this peak are Latitude 30°12'00" Longitude 80°26'24".
Panchchuli-4 (6,334 m)

The first ascent of this peak was made in 1995 by a New Zealand expedition led by John Nankervis. The expedition members who summited were; John Nankervis (Wellington), Peter Cammell (Auckland), John Cocks (Dunedin), and Nick Shearer (Oamaru). Peter Platts (Christchurch) assisted the expedition as far as camp 2. The coordinates of this peak are Latitude 30°11'24" Longitude 80°27'00".

The first ascent of this peak was made in 1992 by an Indo-British team jointly led by Chris Bonington and Harish Kapadia by the south ridge. The coordinates of this peak are Latitude 30°10'48" Longitude 80°28'12".

I captured the range from Munsiyari. Munsiyari (मुनस्यारी ) is the name of the sub-division headquarters, a conglomeration of revenue villages and it also refers to the entire region as Munsiyari Tehsil and Sub Division in the Pithoragarh District in the hill-state of Uttarakhand, India. It lies at the base of the great Himalayan mountain range, at an elevation of about 2,200 m (7,200 ft) and is a starting point of various treks into the interior of the range.
I have always been fascinated by the play of light on peaks especially the lateral light of a low sun. This diffuse and soft light show up peaks in all their finery exploring form, shape and color..The pic shows a 18500ft peak in the Panchchuli range basking in the rays from the morning sun.Pl see large
Nandadevi temple is situated on top of a hillock about 3 km from Munsiyari town.It can be reached by car or better still on foot which is very stimulating.It bears a conical facade and is dedicated to Goddess Nandadevi or Parvati. From its grounds, Panchchulis, which give a fantastic backdrop, seem at a handshaking distance. Pl see large or magnified

Mt Rajrambha, a 21450ft peak of the Panchchuli range,seen in this diagonal set up, doesn't get the attention it deserves between Nandadevi and Panchachuli.
Rajrambha means 'celestial nymph' (Apsara) in Hindi. This peak is situated south of the Kalabaland Glacier in eastern Kumaon in the Ralam valley. The nearby peaks which form the north-south massif are Suitilla 6,373 m, Chaudhara 6,510 m, and Ngalaphu 6,410 m.Rajrambha forms a wall between Lasser Yankti and Ralam Valley. It can be approached through the Uttari Balati glacier passing the Balati plateau.

Another amazing peak viewed from a height of Khaliya (3500m ). The peak lies to the south of Ralam pass and north west of Panchchuli. It is the part of Himalayan massif between Ralam and Lassar valley.

Kausani is famous for its tea garden, scenic splendour and its spectacular 300 km wide panoramic view of Himalayan peaks such as Trishul, Nanda Devi and Panchchuli among others.
And the heart skips a beat while you try to behold the ethereal beauty of this peak!
