Sunday 23 February, was carnival parade day in Centro Puebla de Zaragoza. So, too many parade photos from the 2 hour event.
7 of 11.
The carnival parade included a brass ensemble on a flatbed truck. Were they short one matching shirt?
Ecuador rather than Panama is where the Panama hat originated and has great cultural significance there. It was given its current name in the 1800's by the Europeans. Ecuador would ship all the hats they were sending overseas to Panama, which in turn would ship them to Europe, thus the confusion. In this little Ecuadorian market there are at least three hat shops. The tourists love them.
I was limping and exhausted after trooping through the Prado, overwhelmed by the beautiful, endless masterpieces (that I wasn't allowed to photograph). Maybe some day I'll get to return; it was amazing, and I certainly didn't get to see everything.
While they both have their eys on me, my eyes are on that absolute beast of a movie camera.

Seen here filming on Southport location shoot in sweltering 2018 heatwave temperatures last June.
I was knackered simply shooting stills, in a lightweight, open necked, short sleeved shirt.
But, look how they had to dress and dance their way through take, after take, after take.
No wonder they looked like this as the director called for yet another.

For my dear friend Berenice www.flickr.com/photos/darkolina/sets/72157619496737231/de..., an amazing photographer, who knows perfectly how to capture life, as simple and beautiful as it is, and who has a great musical taste. I think this humble hommage of images and music suits you, dear Berenice.

Panama hats are not made in Panama. All Panama hats are made in Ecuador and no visit to that country is complete without a tour of a factory.
This is the Homero Ortega Panama Hat factory in Cuenca, Ecuador. The white, woven hats on the floor have been woven by native women in their homes and sold to the factory who does all of the finishing work on them.
Mexican boy during the biannual celebration of the spring equinox at Chichén Itzà, Peninsula de Yucatan, Yucatan, Mexico.
Chichén Itzà is one of the "New 7 Wonders of the World" elected on 7.7.2007
Equinox happens twice a year when day and night are approximately equal long. The term derives from the Latin aequus (equal) and nox (night). There is a special event happening at about 4 p. m. with a serpent coming along the stairs of "el Castillo" or the Kukulkan Pyramid.
This is my very first posting of a human portrait, for me quite uncommon, since I am a pure naturalist and not used to take pictures of people. But it opens to me a new world...

I'm snowed in - so what better way to spend the time than to try on hats? And then take photos?
... meanwhile, I've been 'tagged' a few times, and this seemed like a good time to do my part of the game.
1. I LOVE hats, but don't think to wear them all that much.
2. I have an insane backlog of photos I want to sort through and edit. *sigh*
3. I thrive when it's sunny.
4. Spring is absolutely my favorite season, followed by summer. Winter generally gets me down.
5. I want to live some place warm and sunny... but my favorite cities are Paris, Chicago, and San Francisco.
6. I seem to change my hair just about every two years.
7. I love swimming and playing in the ocean.
8. I care a lot about - and am intrigued by - people & interpersonal relations.
9. I find it difficult to be outgoing - I'm naturally more reserved and shy. But sometimes I hide that pretty well.
10. I have two dogs and a cat.
11. I'm left-handed.
12. Currently, my favorite color is yellow. But I love bright colors in general.
13. I've been to 5 continents.
14. I love being a mentor.
15. I'm a nester - creating a warm, comfortable, cheerful home is important, and even if I'm staying somewhere only a short time I want to make it my home.
16. I adore board games. A couple favorites are Scrabble and Settlers of Catan.

Barcelona's Picasso Museum (there are Picasso museums all over Spain) amazed me with the depth of what was on offer. Not just Picasso paintings, but also pottery and sculpture. And not just works by Picasso, but a fabulous exhibition of photographs taken of him by a friend who had known him for 20 years. I loved it all.
