After a fine week in Goa I was travelling on to Kerala, asking a friendly taxi driver to take me to Karmali train station in Old Goa.
We had a lot of time until the night train would come so I asked him to show me a little of Panaji, the Capital. He took me to what you can see in the picture above, telling me with a wry smile: "This is a monument of what's left of Western colonialisation of India".
It was the hottest day on my journey. I sat down before this monument of European endeavour... or failure, wondering about how the old colonial past influence the relation between today's nations - and people...
