Anyone who knows me, knows I am vehemently opposed to any kind of cutsey pink fluffiness in relation to breast cancer. However, today is the day when I make an active choice to do pink fluffiness.

During chemo and my on-going cancer treatment, I have been lucky enough to be able to visit a wonderful complementary therapy nurse named Prem. Through her, I've been able to take some of the control back by making simple choices about massage, reflexology, and so on. This is the holistic side of helping people cope with the aggressive treatments and it really makes a huge difference to how you feel physically, mentally, and emotionally.

I saw Prem yesterday and when I walked through the doors she said I was the answer to her prayers! During the session, instead of dozing off we talked about the poster she needs for this coming Friday. She's offering short hand massages to anyone waiting in the chemo suite to publicise her service. We're hoping that in the New Year the service will expand so that more people can be empowered.

This is the simple poster that Prem asked me to make. No dates, no times, so it can be used again and again. Sadly, the NHS funding for this service is minimal and prem is fortunate to benefit from grants from a local cancer charity, Crazy Hats.

Also, it's funny that the slogan back then was "Instead of a DIAPER -- Pampers" since nowadays "diapers" is virtually synonymous with *disposable* diapers, Pampers especially (some people even use "Pampers" as a generic term, as most people use "Kleenex" to mean "facial tissue").

We have been using cotton diapers for Maya at home, and 7th generation chlorine free diapers for her (seventhgeneration.com) when we go out. She has now outgrown their biggest size because she is sooooo long, the rise is just too short. We found these awesome bleach free/chlorine free biodegradable diapers made in Germany. We ordered some samples a while ago and tried them out and they are fantastic. Even the bag it comes in is totally biodegradable. Because they're not made with chlorine like the regular diapers at the store (Huggies, Pampers, etc), they're not leaching dioxins into the baby's reproductive organs (and causing ovarian, etc, cancer later in life) . I can't believe that they are even allowed to bleach diapers (or well anything for that matter, sanitary pads, tampons, etc, with chlorine,) let alone sell them on the shelves for people to put on their poor babies! The EU is so much more stringent with their regulations when it comes to things like this. BPA was banned in the early 90s already.

A great piece of Pampers history, just rescued this from a recycling pile this morning and pieced it back together. If anyone has any of these boxes lying around or that are going to be thrown away, Please let me know!!

A client of mine sells knives and has asked me to photograph a few for his online sales. So I am trying a few techniques in practice to see how they come out. This is my second attempt. The first attempt is not worthy of public viewing!!

Strobist info: behind the knife, under the board is a 430ex speedlite with a red gel on it shooting on an angle at the wall. Camera right is an alien bee 800 with a brolly (shoot through umbrella in case I am saying this wrong). Camera left is a 580exii with a yellow gel, this light was originally placed as a rim light. Totally the wrong spot for it and did not get what I wanted, but the oranges picked up the light slightly and I was happy with that. The speedlites were fired by the Canon ste2 and the alien bee by wire.

I worked on this image in photoshop cs6. I created the vignette manually with a black paint brush at 40% opacity. I ran it through nik sharpener and I believe one other treatment that I can't remember right now.
