Subtly patterned brown-and-yellow warbler (Setophaga palmarum), known for constantly bobbing its tail. Often forages on the ground, unlike most other warblers. Breeding plumage shows a rufous cap. In fall and winter, look for pale eyebrow and dark line through the eye, diffuse streaks on underparts, and bright yellow undertail coverts.

Thraupis palmarum (Palm Tanager / Tángara palmera)
The Palm Tanager is one of the most widespread and familiar birds of the neotropics, from Nicaragua south to southern Brazil. They are common at forest borders, but also occur in the canopy of the interior of forest. As the name suggests, Palm Tanagers often are associated with palm trees, but by no means are they restricted to living in palms.

This resort in Aruba has so many palm trees it's like a forest; here they're silhouetted against the sunset.

There was a gorgeous sunset on the day we arrived in Marbella. Taken from the balcony of our rented apartment.

Got there early. It took a couple hours for the very thick fog to lift. You couldn't see 20 feet in front of you. Once it did, the place came to life.

Kew’s Palm House is the most important surviving Victorian iron and glass structure in the world. It was designed by Decimus Burton and engineered by Richard Turner to accommodate the exotic palms being collected in early Victorian times. It was built between 1844 and 1848.
Palm Warblers are small songbirds, but they are on the larger side for a warbler and have a fuller looking belly. Their posture is more upright than a typical warbler and more like a pipit—especially noticeable when they are on the ground. Their tails and legs are longer than most warblers contributing to the pipit like shape. (Cornell Lab)

The most beautiful Palm Tanager i ever saw
View of Palm Beach looking south from the Barrenjoey headland. This is one of Sydney's northern beaches, and is absolutely my favourite beach in Sydney. Expeditions up the steep headland to the Barrenjoey lighthouse are a great feature of any trek to Palm Beach. When my son was little we would hike to this very spot and have lunch thinking that we were pirates on Treasure Island, before descending from the headland on the wickedly narrow but glamorously scenic 'Smugglers Track'.
Cheers from Sydney!
The Arecaceae are a botanical family of perennial plants. Their growth form can be climbers, shrubs, tree-like and stemless plants, all commonly known as palms. Those having a tree-like form are colloquially called palm trees. They are flowering plants, a family in the monocot order Arecales. Currently 181 genera with around 2600 species are known, most of them restricted to tropical and subtropical climates. Most palms are distinguished by their large, compound, evergreen leaves, known as fronds, arranged at the top of an unbranched stem. However, palms exhibit an enormous diversity in physical characteristics and inhabit nearly every type of habitat within their range, from rainforests to deserts. Palms are among the best known and most extensively cultivated plant families. They have been important to humans throughout much of history. Many common products and foods are derived from palms. In contemporary times, palms are also widely used in landscaping, making them one of the most economically important plants. In many historical cultures, because of their importance as food, palms were symbols for such ideas as victory, peace, and fertility. For inhabitants of cooler climates today, palms symbolize the tropics and vacations. Most palms are native to tropical and subtropical climates. Palms thrive in moist and hot climates but can be found in a variety of different habitats. Their diversity is highest in wet, lowland forests. South America, the Caribbean, and areas of the south Pacific and southern Asia are regions of concentration. Colombia may have the highest number of palm species in one country. 18153
The Palm Jumeirah is an archipelago of artificial islands in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, created using land reclamation which extends into the Persian Gulf. It is part of a larger series of developments called the Palm Islands, including Palm Jebel Ali and Palm Deira, which, when completed, will together increase Dubai's shoreline by a total of 520 kilometres (320 mi).[1] It has an estimated population of at least 10,000 as of 2017.[2] It is located on the Jumeirah coastal area of the emirate of Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates.
