This relic is east of home and exactly what I was hunting for. There are a few old, abandoned barns around rural Alberta, and this one provided easy access because it was close to the highway.

The white, fluffy clouds were once again out, which always motivates me to grab my gear and search for opportunities. With an approach so immediate and white fluffy clouds an ideal pallette, this old relic was the perfect target.

This smoke tree loves it\s spot in the garden...unfortunately I planted it where something smaller should have been...but I love it's fall display of color and have yet to capture the elusive flowers.

Located in the Orion arm of the Milky Way Galaxy and found in the constellation Cygnus is IC1318A, IC1318B and IC1318C or the Gamma Cygni Nebula an enormous emission nebula back dropping the star Gamma Cygni or Sadr seen in the top center of this photo. The nebula is approximately 3700 light years distant. Sadr or Gamma Cygni at 1800 light years is a 2.23 magnitude giant yellow-white F-type star 12 times the mass of our sun and emitting over 33,000 times as much energy.

Aside from Gamma Cygni, the field contains objects from Lynds' Catalogue of Bright Nebulae

As summer yields to winter, the interim process, autumn, unleashes a wonderful pallette of golds, reds, yellows, oranges. The intricacy in the leaf veins is quite pronounced if you zoom in. We had high winds all day yesterday, culminating last evening in even higher winds with a storm that passed through on the edge of the cold front. The winds and rains stripped most of the trees of their colorful foliage, but did leave colorful deposits on the ground and in other unexpected places.

Maroon Bells/Snowmass Wilderness, Colorado. Steep mountainsides, under a pallette of aspen colors, tilted downwards to the valley floor. It is the kind of country that has your eyes wandering to bald spots, wondering what the view must be like from them. It's not often I walk level ground...it seems like I'm always on a diagonal path, hoping for switchbacks to ease the way. Maybe our paths will cross, going up or coming down.

In the midst of the second January thaw when all the snow has melted. I always love the deep, rich colors from the light that Winter brings. These are Allium seed heads.
