A visit to a friend's farm brought us out to the back fields to tour the duck ponds and trails he created. Caistor Centre, Ontario.

Looking out my front window, I was blessed to see this beautiful sunset! Wishing all of you a magical sunset too my friends =)
I was extremely surprised to see this little visitor in the yard. He hung out most of the day. This is only the second time I have seen a painted bunting in the yard. The last time was a couple of years ago. He did not allow me to get very close. He's also very fast. However, I did manage to get a couple of shots while he was here.

The African Wild Dog has many names including Painted Wolf, Painted Dog, African Hunting Dog etc
It is the largest wild canine in Africa and is listed as Endangered since 1990.
Recent estimates regarding the remaining number in the wild vary around 6600 individuals distributed over a number of African countries and areas.

Male Painted Bunting, Passerina ciris, defending its turf as I watched two males chasing each other, this one emerged as the "apparent" winner.
The Painted Redstart nests in Arizona and New Mexico, and they are ground nesters. I found this bird in a very bird road in the mountains up the road from Portal passed the Sunny Flats campground. If you bird in AZ, you have to bird along this road.
From Portal on up, you will find several warblers, the Blue-Throated mountain Gem, and Elegant Trogans, as well as many others species.
I haven't been there in several years, and I look forward to one day returning.

For the "Looking close... on Friday!"- theme: "a single stone".
I found this painted stone on one of my walks in Corona-time, when everything was shut down and closed.
It was a trend at the time.
First, people would look for stones, then paint them at home and place them in a visible spot in the forest or elsewhere, where other walkers would also come. You could take them with you and place them somewhere else or take them home. I found this one so heartwarming that I kept it.
