Cuando sabes que tu vida

tiene un punto y final

es bueno tener muy claro

cómo tienes que pasar.

El arte de saber cómo

cada uno lo ha de abrazar

y tener claro que todo

aquí se ha de quedar.

No pienses que porque tengas

mejor lo has de pasar,

que, a veces, el compartirlo

te hace ver con claridad

que las cosas no son vida,

son maneras de pasar,

y cada uno elige

su manera y su lugar.

Porque pasar no es consumo,

es encontrar el caudal

que te ayude, caminando,

a encontrar ese final.

Bonitos colores brindan

estas máscaras gallegas,

que en llegando el carnaval

salen alegres a sus calles

para que el festivo folión

les alegre con su música

y todos allí se diviertan

danzando y siguiendo su son.

¡Pues sí, Señor. Sí, Señor!

A finales de abril

hemos visto muchas máscaras

que bien nos han deleitado

durante todo su recorrido

con ese aspecto que asusta

y que gusta compartir

lo alegre y lo mundano

con esa intrahistoria

de las máscaras en sí.

Saber mantener tradiciones

y conservar su origen

pone en escena estas máscaras

que de Eslovaquia han llegado

para conocerlas aquí.

Junto a ellas, se sumaron

de otros lugares de España

para hacer la fiesta aquí.

Being an old fashioned photo taker, I still incline to wait for the right moment instead of taking a serious of photos to choose from and with hindsight I suppose the latter way would probably lead to better results...

Other than Josef Hassid who died in his twenties, Emmanuel Feuermann, Josef Wolfsthal, Ginette Neveu and Julian Sitkovesky, or even Alexei Sultanov (pianist ) also died prematurely all in their thirties...

Of Sitkovesky, David Oistrakh was recorded to have remarked " had he lived, Sitkovetsky would have eclipsed him and Kogan…. He had a broad, firm, focused tone in all registers; flawless intonation; a rapid, even trill; a swift, perfectly controlled staccato; strong, immaculate harmonics; an even, clear sautillé..." Doesn't sound like Oistrakh said so out of courtesy. And it dawned on me recently that Sitkovetsky married Bella Davidovich, the Chopin winner, with whom they have a violinist/conductor son.

They are the descendants of tribes which lost in the fight for the fertile plains over a thousand years ago and quite a few of them might well be relatives of the Japanese of Chinese origin who went there with Xu Fu. When China first opened upin the seventies, many of the young fellows flocked from here to the coastal provinces for low paid jobs. Now most of them are back making the place a tourist attraction instead. Things are getting better for them, mainly through centuries of their own long -termed efforts !

It was my first visit to Russia more than twenty years ago i.e. soon after they adopted the so called "shock therapy" whereby Russians became so desperately poor as a result ! Russia was nevertheless a most mysterious country to me at the time. It was also the time when I began to get the hang of photography. The bad thing being, many of these works are not to the populist's taste nowadays.

Villa Paganini, Roma, Italy

Thank you Rachmaninoff. And thank you Olympus E-M1 Mark II.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

From an original by Patricia Meyer. Apart from cropping and doing my own contrast and color correcting, the main thing I wanted to do was enhance the rainfall. After futzing with contrast and clarity, I did the grown up, responsible thing: cheat.

So I watched this video about using Photoshop to add rain to your photos: www.designpanoply.com/blog/how-to-add-rain-to-a-photo-in-...

Patricia is known for being the "Paganini of Lightroom" - she's an unabashed fan of photos that are better than real life. So I was not blind to the irony of using even more processing power than she normally does, in order to get results that are (hopefully) "realistic" looking.
