It was nice to see some sunlight yesterday. It seems to have been wet and grey for too long. There was some great light as I drove below Stanage but pressed on for a walk up to the Wool Packs. I needed some exercise.
As I arrived the sun dropped below cloud. It looked like there was no chance of it reappearing but I got a around five minutes of intense light. It was tricky taken photos in the high winds though.
This one's for you Harsharn. I know you like this rock formation and we've stood here many times waiting for light like this.
Daylight white balance and no saturation.
After so much city it's now time for a bit more nature. How about a walk at the beautiful and almost unpeopled beach of Praia do Areão ?
I have a special connection to that photo, because during the last ten minutes this small dog, what is now in dialogue with it's pack leader did not leave my side. I had the impression, that he wanted to go with me absolutely. We were already a fair way off the others and I just brought him back to his pack. Now they seem to talk out that behaviour.
I just realised, that today is wild dog day. What a coincidence, that I decided for that post this morning.
Nach so viel Stadt ist es nun Zeit für etwas Natur. Wie wäre es mit einem Spaziergang am wunderschönen und fast menschenleeren Strand von Praia do Areão ?
Mit diesem Bild habe ich eine besondere Verbindung, da mir der kleine Hund, hier gerade im Gespräch mit seinem Rudelführer, die letzten 10 Minuten kaum von meiner Seite gewichen ist. Ich hatte den Eindruck, er wolle unbedingt mit mir mitkommen. Wir hatten uns schon ziemlich weit von den anderen entfernt und gerade hab ich ihn zurück zum Rudel gebracht. Jetzt wird das Verhalten wohl gerade ausdiskutiert.
Ich habe gerade realisiert, dass heute Welt Hunde Tag ist. Was für ein Zufall, dass ich mich heute früh gerade für dieses Foto entschieden habe.

With the CTC cut in working at Iron Junction, and a lot of North Bound traffic on the Missabe sub, the MRF with 901 in the lead was waiting for lights in, with a Minntac loader with 403 leading a half a mile behind, on the other side of the diamond. They both got rolling as the golden hour was in its prime!

I had Gus take a shot out the window of the laker American Victory at Fraser Shipyards and he still had the camera ready as we crossed into Minnesota and noticed this neat power set at Rices Point.

After picking up three C40-8s at Keenan, Repainted IC SD40-3 6254 leads a six pack of standard cabs South through Forbes, MN on a rock train.
These are blister packs for a probiotic suppliment. Each blister measures 2cm in width.
Strobist info:
Two Nikon SB900 speedlights were used for illumination. The first was camera right slightly above camera level, pointing down 45-degrees at subject and at a distance of 9". It was in Manual mode and fired @ 1⁄8 power through a Gary Fong Lightsphere. The second SB900 was 170-degrees camera left, pointed down at 45-degrees at subject and a distance of 30", also in Manual mode. It was fired @ 1⁄8 power through a Neewer 24" x 24" soft box.
Speedlights triggeded by three PocketWizard PlusX's.
Lens: Tokina AT-X Pro Macro 100 F2.8 D.
