We received a package that included one very long, continuous strip of brown paper, used as packing material. Muse and Guru have had lots of fun with it.

Various items have come in the post this week. Some in padded envelopes, some in packets, some in cardboard sleeves, and a few in boxes. Sometimes I feel that the smaller the item the bigger the box especially when there seems to be the best part of a roll or screwed-up paper inside.

But this week there came a surprise - the paper wasn't the usual recycled grey material but something very different. This wrapping paper had been cut through in a honeycomb fashion not too obvious until you got hold of the sides and pulled to reveal the grill pattern.

And that is what you are seeing here - just a piece of disposable wrapping paper! Lit from the side and underneath a piece of multicoloured paper.

I'm a great believer in looking at the waste we tend to just throw away without looking. So much can and does provide inspiration for interesting photographs.

Looking close...on Friday: Round in Vertical Photo

For this week's challenge, I put my lensball in a homemade "dark tent". There's white, cottony packing material behind it (from a jewellery gift box), and little red lights behind that, creating the weird, thread-filled glow.

Looking through a hole of the wrinkled packing paper, into some more wrinkled paper, with a hole...

Macro view of a chrome wine bottle opener resting in dense red packing material. Side lighting creates sharp reflections on the metal surface while the textured folds amplify depth and structure. The shallow focus isolates the opener’s curved form and emphasizes the contrast between hard chrome and soft material. A straightforward kitchen-related macro study.

Am not exactly sure what it protected!! But it’s a great textured cardboard!!

This image has officially creeped me out. The more I stare at it, the more little scary faces appear in the bubbles. I've seen a frog, alien, fox, fat man sleeping, opossum, a man yelling, an eagles face, a monkey, and a large mouthed fish. Oh geez, maybe I just need my new glasses...oh wait!!...I don't have my glasses on....reminder to self - put on glasses :)))

Super easy abstract, but I liked the colours all in a row.

"Hunger hurts but starvin' works when it costs too much to love.." ~ "Paper Bag" by Fiona Apple.

I have to admit, I hadn't planned on using this song today or at all, but when a few packages arrived today and they were stuffed with this crinkly packing material, I knew something had to be done. And I knew there was a song called "Paper Bag." :)

The paper packing gave an "Op-Art" impression to my jaded eye.

You can draw anything. That's what I try to tell myself. :)

What do YOU see in this abstract composition?

I have the feeling I stare into an ice cavern...

What is it about cats and packing material? Our two had a ball! I had fun with it, too. :-D

Thank you all for your interest, your kind comments and favs, actually 37.618 views and the constructive criticism!

EDIT:

Shame on me, I´ve misnumbered my pics for the 365 project (since July). This is already the hundreth left pic. I´ll correct immediately my mistake.

Great for dioramas and craft projects, but takes up a lot of space.

They made this guy at work while I was on vacation, to cope with my absence.

Back of a box of pharmacy 1960s.

Looks very nice. Found during emptying my parents' house.

In the box were white folded paper with some powder. I think against diarrhea.

"just us packing materials"

Most of the stuff I use to package up small orders and swap items.

Contents vary from session-to-session, but the acorn, felt bowl and box of Moo MiniCards are always present.

For a swap-bot swap. Postcard recycled from a Capn' Crunch box, napkin bits from Carroll, graph paper, packing material, a bit of drywall tape from my table, and a used teabag.
