Santa Catalina Island Sunset
This was our sunset view from Top of the World in Laguna Beach. I've been to Catalina Island before, but it's been a long time. On my last trip, I was heading over on a February evening with rough seas. My best guess is the swells were about 20'. It was a wild ride! www.youtube.com/watch?v=XzIav6m2VbA
The Ana Kai Tangata cave is of note because in the back left wall cave paintings depicting birds, mainly manutaras, can be seen. The paintings were drawn using natural earth pigments and animal fat, but the high humidity of the cave has harmed them almost to the point of erasing them.
Morning begins along the Oregon coastline. A great place to explore with all the neat rocks and sand as well in areas.
Went to Shore Acres last night to see what it looks like under a full moon. The light was too bright and the ocean too calm. Just a beautiful night but not great for pics. Ended up using the old double-exposure ploy. Shot the landscape at 14mm and the moon at 200mm. Shore Acres State Park, Oregon. June 18 & 19, 2016.
I don't post many photographs of birds, but I like this one of a snowy egret at a tide pool at Point Lobos State Natural Reserve. Point Lobos derives its name from the offshore rocks at Punta de los Lobos Marinos, Point of the Sea Wolves, where the sound of barking sea lions carries inland.
Thanks, as always, for stopping by and for all of your visits, comments, awards and faves.

But I cannot complain 2 days ago I was seeing this at Cape Kiwanda!
Thanks God for having that opportunity!
Added some ND Filters to get a 30s exposure to smooth out the ocean and get a view of what was under the water's surface along the pretty Oregon Coast.
