Who doesn't like a moody coastal scene? I love our coast no matter what conditions are there...well...unless it's raining I suppose.

Many thanks for your visit and looking!

A beautiful crescent-shaped beach located off the iconic coastal California State Highway 1 which runs almost the full length of the state. Pacifica is 17 miles south of San Francisco.

It was a windy evening at the town of Marshall along Tomales Bay. The boats were rocking from side to side in rhythm with the choppy tide.

High winds are a way of life along this stretch of the California coast, but not so for many of the inland locations in the state. Once again we find ourselves in a precarious position with high winds igniting fires throughout the state.

Our utility company has tried to mitigate the risk by shutting off the power grid for extended periods of time. In the past two weeks we've been without power for over 5 days with another 2-3 day outage scheduled for this weekend into next week. Time to batten down the hatches.

Marshall CA

Left behind to weather in the harsh coastal climate, this abandoned ranch shows all the signs of once being inhabited by a hard working family. It was a little eerie walking amongst the old buildings. There was a strong westerly wind blowing off the ocean causing the doors and windows to groan and creak as I walked along. It was as if the old place was trying to tell me its story.

Drake's Bay CA

I love this place at sunset but we had other plans, so a quick stop and we were on our way.

Sunset along Cambria, California.

....is the white noise of the ocean surf, the wind rippling through the farmer's fields, and the shrieking of the shore birds as they drift overhead in the air currents.

Somewhere near Gorda, CA along the Pacific coast . I cycled past this region after sundown in pitch black darkness in 2014 attempting to reach San Simeon. I didn't get to enjoy the view until a year later.

Slightly wider views from stitching 2 images. I didn't have a wide enough lens on my trip(s). Had I known what I've learned now, I would have planned more stitched images.

A bit of creative stitching. That's the same turkey vulture.

The Age of Sail (usually dated as 1571–1862) was a period in which international trade and naval warfare were dominated by sailing ships. This is a historical fact. An alternative fact is, that it is possible to achieve elevated sensations of peace and tranquility by sailing through the golden light of an early morning with nothing but the wind at your back.

Ah, the infamous alternative fact--where one thing doesn't have to equal another or even make sense for that matter.

San Francisco CA

Every single day, the ocean reshuffles things on the beach and the sand is pristine once more.

Over many years, ocean waters sculpt the rocks into extraordinary shapes, shapes that possess a haunting and slightly alien beauty.

A person throwing something can reach backwards to pack more punch into the throw, but the Pacific has a reach that spans half the globe. That's why its waves are no joke. Similarly, an ocean has a cumulative reach across time that is hard to comprehend.

You're not likely to ever meet anyone with such continuous creative powers. Astonishment is the feeling I'm always left with.

My big obstacle with work in Corporate America is finding the right blend between mind and heart. It seems perhaps, that you can never have too much heart--or too much beach for that matter. One follows the other.

A soft morning along the rugged Northern California coast, after a welcome rain had nourished the land. This part of the California coast is protected from development.

To help protect life on Earth, we can focus and work together to retool our economies and develop new ways to fuel our everyday life activities with energy that is sustainable for the planet. Future generations depend on us. We are all in this together!

I went to Olympic Peninsula for weekend to escape from the heat we had here. This is a photo taken at my favorite Second beach La Push at sunset.
