Shot taken for Saturday Self Challenge 14/01/2023 ---------
to create a colour and mono diptych.
For my shot I first looked for the base to be be full of colour and then with " My Craft Studio " using a digital punch took one diagonal section off and I also used a scalloped edge to break up what would have been a straight line . this section I then converted to black & white . Secondly I put a new photo of the same shot into " MCS " ------ then the fun begins !! I had to get the B&W section to be the same dimensions as the full colour image before overlaying the mono half shot and moving it up & down , left to right until it sat exactly where it should . By and large I think I have got it not too bad although I am aware of one bit that could be better , but will it end up being off somewhere else ??
The shot subject is just one of the very many cross-stitch pieces of work that my wife and daughter have made over the years and hang on walls all over the house . This one was created in 2004 ( a label on the back is a good reminder ) .
In keeping with the Native American theme , here is some music from an excellent album by Sacred Spirit ( actually I have put the whole album up so give it a listen and loose yourself for a while ) -------
It isn't actually called that - it's called "One Manhattan Square" and it's being built on South Street in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, just north of the Manhattan Bridge. The shot was taken from the Brooklyn Bridge, whose west tower is reflected in the lower left corner of the building's façade.
This view reminded me very much of the look of IBM punch cards, on which - and I know this dates me - I used to encode my FORTRAN programs way back in the day.
I went to a local meeting of our animation society held at the home of a member. He had these cool puppets and marionettes, including a Punch and Judy set.
For my 52 Weeks Project 2011 (7/52 - w/e 2/12/11)
BTW, I know I have a lot of catching to do on comments. Work's been getting in the way and probably will for about another month. Sorry I've been mostly absent.
This guy punched the hell out of an effigy of Tony Blair. He could have made a lot of cash by selling time for this.
This image was taken sometime in the afternoon with a hugh cloud cover using a ND filter which helped me get the long exposure.
This is close to Devil's Punch Bowl on the Oregon Coast. Beautiful place to click pictures with different composition and colors. Thanks Steve for lending me the ND.

Samples made on the embellisher using bits from my reject bin! I've been playing with needle punching the fabrics then 'quilting' them using the decorative stitches on my sewing machine.
The darker green piece is another 'verdigris' bit I made using a piece of green silk with a scarab stencil in copper coloured metallic powder mixed with fabric medium that didn't come out at all well. I made a 'sandwich' with the printed fabric on top, some copper coloured silk fibres on the bottom and turquoise felt in the middle. I needle punched it quite heavily on both sides to bring the felt and the silk fibres through to the top. Then I machine quilted it in a greek key pattern with copper coloured thread.
The piece on the right was a piece of space dyed muslin treated with potassium permanganate then discharged with lemon juice. It was very drab and dingy. I needle punched it to a piece of dyed wool blanket in turquoise to brighten it up a bit. Then I machine quilted in two different patterns with copper coloured, green and turquoise thread.
The last piece was space dyed muslin that I had scribbled on in felt tip pens in dark red and silver. I needle punched it to a piece of yellow felt to harmonise the colours, then machine quilted it in yellow thread.
Dedicated to Larose for teaching me her touch
So Larose, can I get a diploma for stage #1 in your 3 part course?
Larose told me to dress a picture like dressing a woman. So... I'm thinking along those lines when I presented this picture. Hope you all like it!

An image from the other morning with Tula, we had the place to our selves for just long enough to get a couple decent shots before the crowds showed up. As always we have so many laughs, this day was no exception. Thanks for looking as always and I hope everyone has a great day!
