Anlässlich des 25-jährigen Bestehens der Ufa-Filmstudios kam 1943 – also Mitten im Zweiten Weltkrieg – der mit grossem Aufwand und Starbesetzung produzierte Farbfilm «Münchhausen» in die Kinos. Er erzählte – wie passend für einen vom Propagandaminister persönlich in Auftrag gegebenen Film - die Lebensgeschichte des bekannten und populären «Lügenbarons» Hieronymus von Münchhausen. Der Film sollte ausdrücklich ein Unterhaltungs- und kein Propagandafilm sein. Das Drehbuch schrieb der eigentlich mit Berufsverbot belegte Schriftsteller Erich Kästner unter Pseudonym. Einige Dialoge enthalten trotz strenger Zensur potentiell subversive Äusserungen. So antwortet Münchhausen seinem Diener Christian, als dieser bei einem Blick auf die Uhr des Barons feststellt, entweder müsse die Uhr kaputt sein, oder die Zeit selber: «Die Zeit ist kaputt, Christian.»

On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Ufa film studios, the color film "Münchhausen," produced at great expense and with a star-studded cast, was released in 1943 - in the middle of World War II. It told the life story of the well-known and popular "Liar Baron" Hieronymus von Münchhausen - as was fitting for a film commissioned by the Minister of Propaganda himself. The film was expressly intended to be an entertainment film and not a propaganda film. The screenplay was written by the writer Erich Kästner, who was actually banned from his profession, under a pseudonym. Despite strict censorship, some dialogues contain potentially subversive statements. For example, Münchausen replies to his servant Christian when the latter, looking at the baron's watch, sais that either the watch must be broken, or time itself: "Time is broken, Christian."

Die Gorch Fock (I) ist ein Segelschulschiff, das 1933 in Dienst gestellt wurde. Das Schiff wurde nach dem deutschen Schriftsteller und Dichter Johann Kinau, der unter dem Pseudonym "Gorch Fock" bekannt war, benannt.

Ursprünglich wurde die Gorch Fock (I) von der deutschen Kriegsmarine als Segelschulschiff genutzt, um die Kadetten in der Segelausbildung zu schulen. Nach dem Ende des Zweiten Weltkriegs wurde das Schiff von den Briten beschlagnahmt und als Reparationsleistung an die Sowjetunion übergeben.

Die Gorch Fock (I) wurde später von der Sowjetunion an die Deutsche Demokratische Republik übergeben und diente dort als Segelschulschiff der Volksmarine. Nach der deutschen Wiedervereinigung ging das Schiff in den Besitz der Bundesmarine über und wurde schließlich außer Dienst gestellt.

Heute ist die Gorch Fock (I) ein Museumsschiff und Teil des Deutschen Meeresmuseums in Stralsund. Das Schiff kann besichtigt werden und bietet einen Einblick in die maritime Geschichte und Segelausbildung vergangener Zeiten.

¹ All parts of the plant, including the root, are highly poisonous and

  as few as twelve of its berries, would be enough to kill a child.

  This puts it almost on a par with the deadly nightshade where only

  two to four of its berries would achieve the same result.

Haworth parsonage now the Bronte Parsonage Museum, where the Bronte sisters lived for most of their lives. It is in Haworth, Yorkshire, England. Charlotte, Emily, and Anne Bronte are well known as poets and novelists. Like many 19th century female writers, they originally published their poems and novels under male pseudonyms. Charlotte's Jane Eyre, Emily's Wuthering Heights and Anne's The Tenant of Wildfell Hall are their most well known works.

Die Phrase stammt aus dem Lateinischen und bedeutet wörtlich übersetzt „wohin gehst du?“.

Noch scheint hier im Bild ziemlich viel durcheinander zu gehen - welche Treppe führt wohin und wie kommt man zum Ziel?

For twenty years (1996–2016) Tavar Zawacki created and signed all of his artworks with his street artist pseudonym, 'ABOVE'. Originally delivered to Garage Francorchamps on behalf of Jean Blaton, a Belgium racing driver who raced under the pseudonym Beurlys. Having suffered an accident at the Le Mans 24 hours and recording a dnf at the 1000km Paris, the car was sold on to Robert Crevits under whom it recorded a number of class wins.

At some point in 1962 the car was fitted with the engine from 2291GT, and was still noted as having this engine in 2001. From 2003 onwards, the car as been seen at a number of historic events, and is a regular at Spa and the Le Mans Classic under the ownership of Clive Joy.

The Rape of the Sabine Women is a mythological episode relating to the founding of Rome. It refers to a political and strategic event organized by Romulus. After founding Rome in 753 BC, the king found himself in the need to offer companions to his fellow citizens. The rat was consumed during the celebration of an imposing show organized to celebrate the city. Participated some people among which the Ceninensi, the Antemnati, the Crustumini and the Sabini.

During the demonstration to a nod of Romulus his men with weapons in fist took possession of the unmarried women. The historical sources do not report the facts clearly. It seems, however, that no one was killed and the other guests returned to their cities. In their turn, however, later reacted by attacking Rome but were defeated.

ROA is the pseudonym of an anonymous, contemporary street art artist from Ghent, Belgium. He is believed to have been born in 1976. His works have been painted on buildings in various cities in Europe, the United States, South America, Africa, Asia and Australia. He regularly participates in street art festivals and collaborates with galleries worldwide from time to time. However, very little is known about this anonymous artist. The author of the graffiti is Alexander Farto, an artist from Lisbon, known under the pseudonym Vhils.

Serhiy Nigoyan was an Armenian-Ukrainian Euromaidan activist who became one of the first killed during the Revolution of Dignity in Kyiv in January 2014. He died on January 22, 2014 after being mortally wounded. He was twenty years old.

Filming the project "There are people" to the 200th Anniversary of Shevchenko, producers managed to record video footage of Nigoyan reciting a fragment of Shevchenko's poem "The Caucasus".

The Muhammad Rahim Khan Madrasah is one of the largest in Khiva, and is located directly opposite the Konya Ark citadel. It has a size of 62 meters by 50 meters. It was built in 1871 on behalf of Khan Said Muhammad Rahim II (reign 1863 to 1910), who was also a well-known poet under the pseudonym Feruz Shah.

It was built as the last of the large madrasahs in Khiva. The rectangular building has a courtyard with four iwans. There are also small towers on the corners. The large entrance portal has a complicated vestibule with a five-span arcade. The student quarters of the madrasah are covered with Balkhi type domes. In addition to the living rooms, the madrasah also has utility rooms. There is a domed mosque in the south wing.

*Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (commonly shortened to Alice in Wonderland) is an 1865 novel written by English author Charles Lutwidge Dodgson under the pseudonym Lewis Carroll. It tells of a young girl named Alice falling through a rabbit hole into a fantasy world populated by peculiar, anthropomorphic creatures. The tale plays with logic, giving the story lasting popularity with adults as well as with children. It is considered to be one of the best examples of the literary nonsense genre. The vintage deck cards were printed based on the illustrations of the novel.

Stanier 8F stands at York on the Scarborough Spa Express. 48151 was built at Crewe in 1942 and had the distinction in preservation of working a 975 ton freight out of Tunstead in 1995 plus another freight over the S&C in 2000. AJ Powell writing under the pseudonym 45671 wrote a classic series of articles about Living with London Midland Locomotives including the 8F. Prince Rupert must have been his favourite Jubilee.

L’artiste, né en région parisienne, puise dans l’architecture urbaine et l’agitation, l’inspiration qui fera naître des murs au graphisme stylé et percutant.

La "Maison de Balzac" est un ancien hôtel particulier (XVIIIème siècle) bâti sur les coteaux de Passy. Du jardin, on ne voit que le dernier étage du bâtiment qui en compte trois. Balzac y vécut de 1840 à 1847 sous le pseudonyme de "monsieur Breugnol" dans cinq pièces qu'il louait. L'écrivain vivait caché, fuyant ses créanciers : cette maison présentait l’avantage d'avoir deux entrées, dans deux rues différentes, la rue Raynouard et la rue Berton, une petite rue pavée, en contrebas. L'écrivain recevait peu, jouissant du calme des lieux, c'est ici qu'il écrivit bon nombre de ses ouvrages. Rachetée par la Ville de Paris, avec ses dépendances, la Maison de Balzac est devenue un musée consacré au célèbre auteur de la Comédie Humaine.

Gesshouji accommodates the graveyards of nine Matsudaira rulers in its precinct. This photo shows the graveyard of Matsudaira Harusato (松平治郷 1751-1818), the 7th ruler of Matsue Han (domain). He was a popular ruler well-known as a tea ceremony master under the pseudonym of Fumai (不昧).

It is a tradition of Matsudaira graves in Matsue to build a stone Torii gate in front of the tomb stone. It looks odd in the Buddhist temple.

The main hall of Gesshouji was completely demolished by the Shintou fundamentalists after the Meiji Restoration under the slogan of Haibutsu Kishaku (廃仏毀釈 meaning "Abolish Buddhism and destroy Shākyamuni"). The graveyards may have survived thanks to its Torii gate, which is a Shintou element.

All the nine graveyards are built in the deep forest, which gives the area a distinctive mood.

As I work through the images I'll be exhibiting at John Wesley Powell River History Museum starting in January, I find myself steeped in feelings of loss. Revisiting images of places I used to wander without seeing another human being, are now parking lots strewn with litter and excrement.

Much of my early photography was primarily documentary and used as writing prompts for my poetry. As I merged my photography into more "artistic" views, I gradually lost a sense of the poetry as a trade-in for the wow factor.

The last couple of years, I've returned to my practice of wandering with minimal gear in places where others pass by to document the sculpting of my own visions and trevails.
