Before posting this photo I was stumbling about a long report of Siena. A female lion, part of the Marsh Pride Lions, who was a star of the TV show BBC’s Big Cat Diary since 1996. A group of lions were accompanied by the BBC team over many years. 2014 Siena got badly injured by a buffalo attack and the healing process (it took over one year because the wound always opened again) where documented by the Wildlife veterinarians who are doing great jobs in the National Parks by the way, caring and take care of the animals when injured. Sadly Siena and other members of the group passed away in 2015. Local farmers poisoned them.

So this photo dedicated this pround animals and in memory of Siena and the other lions.

For those who are interested. Write "The Marsh Pride of Lions" on Facebook and you'll find a site about the lions.

Taken at a village in Subic, Zambales, Philippines.

We had first visited the nearby park Jardins do Palácio de Cristal back in the middle of July. While there we saw several peacocks. On a recent return visit to the park we saw this proud mother with two little baby peacocks. I don't remember ever seeing baby peacocks, so this was a pleasant surprise.

Thanks to everyone for stopping by to view, fave, and comment.

Sitting on this hill at sunset, is a man who not only loves his wife, but loves his beautilful camel.

This farm cat was staying indoors today, as it was 20 degrees outside today. I usually find her prowling around Chip-In Farm, which mainly produces eggs. That's her son in the background, who's a little sweetie.

This male Baltimore oriole (Icterus galbula) appeared around the pond a week and a half after the female. I guess even in the bird world, the males are not inclined to stop and ask for directions. Hopefully they will meet up eventually.

Interesting facts about their coloring from the Cornell Labs: "Young male Baltimore Orioles do not molt into bright-orange adult plumage until the fall of their second year. Still, a few first-year males in drab, female-like plumage succeed in attracting a mate and raising young. Females become deeper orange with every molt; some older females are almost as bright orange as males."

Great Blue Heron - Florida Everglades

In The Wild - Palm Beach County, FL USA

The great-blue heron stands in shallow water a few feet from the shoreline, completely 'motionless'. The fish does not see its long legs and swims near. With a 'lightning-strike' of a 'spearing bill-thrust' it jabs and rarely-misses! Quite a shock for the un-assuming fish! Then, for what-ever reason (and I have seen this many times), it walks around 'with it' for 20-30 minutes, perhaps waiting for the fish to succumb to being out of the water (and calming down). Then, it flips-it up in the air and swallows it whole (fish-head down - GBH's have no teeth). A lump appears in its neck until it is fully swallowed, and then the heron sometimes takes a sip of water to wash it down. Other times it 'just flies off', very, very satisfied!! Thanks for looking.

Here is Mrs Keet looking so happy and proud.

Nitroglobus is proud to announce the return of acclaimed artist Kian with his new exhibition DRAG.ed & FRAME.d, on view throughout December 2025 at The Annex of Nitroglobus.

After his last showing, Zornian Women (June 2023), I repeatedly invited Kian to present new work. His return marks not only a renewed collaboration but also a striking continuation of his distinctive artistic voice.

In DRAG.ed & FRAME.d, Kian delves into themes that lie at the heart of his practice—humor, daring aesthetic choices, and provocative conceptual play. The series moves fluidly “between power and vulnerability,” as the artist describes, exploring identity, performativity, and the thresholds between constructed and perceived selves.

Kian is back with a topic that is unmistakably his. His work is daring, humorous, and thought-provoking, encouraging visitors to look beyond boundaries and conventions. I’m sincerely happy to welcome him again to Nitroglobus.

Visitors are encouraged to read Kian’s accompanying text, which offers a deeper look into the conceptual motivations behind the exhibition.

Description by the artist:

Welcome to Drag.ed and Frame.d—an intimate visual journey shaped through the art of drag and the boundless possibilities of photography. These images reveal a character who shifts fluidly between power and vulnerability: at times bold, vibrant, and unapologetically commanding; at others quiet, fragile, and suspended in moments of loneliness. Through this duality, I explores the emotional spectrum of identity and performance, challenging how we see strength, beauty, and self-expression.

Drag, in his hands, becomes more than costume—it becomes a language. A space where diversity thrives, where boundaries of gender, presence, and reality are stretched and redefined. Each photograph invites viewers to question what is real, what is constructed, and what lies in the in-between.

Thank you for stepping into this world. May these images encourage you to embrace complexity, celebrate difference, and find truth in every transformation.

Biscuit does a very good sit posing for me while I get the focus right on the lensbaby

both Andi & Saxon lose their sit, they must have known they weren't going to be in focus anyway ;-)

of course there are way more interesting things to do at the beach than sit and wait for me!

Biscuit is really getting the hang of this sitting for a photo business :-)

Wood Stork - Florida Wetlands - Palm Beach County U.S.A.

Another year - another busy Florida Winter nesting season

*[left-double-click for a closer-look - New Stork City!]

The wood stork is a large American wading bird in the stork family. It appears all white on the ground, with blackish-gray legs and pink feet. In flight, the trailing edge of the wings is black. The head is dark brown with a bald, black face, and the thick down-curved bill is dusky yellow. Juvenile birds are a duller version of the adult, generally browner on the neck, and with a paler bill. The bare head and the long bill, which can measure up to ten inches in length, render the wood stork distinctive from other large waders in its range. - A joy to observe them each year. Thanks for looking

Even though Milo is not in the same enclosure as Amari ( see previous posts re: Amari's story) he can still see and interact with him through the fence.

Amari will often run back into the den to see Milo and Misty, then run back out into the enclosure.

Amari will also sit in front of Milo and Misty's den so he can be close to them.

Even though it would be great they could be all together, for the safety of Amari that isn't possible but it's great he knows they are his mum and dad and has them so close by.
