As everywhere in the world caring for the young ones is a kind of instinct for most animals and human beings. To watch the lioness with her three cubs was really a joy for me. The young ones were playing, took a pause, walked away from their mother, were running around. The lioness waited, turned around, walked backwards and at the end they disappeared together into the bushes.

Guardians of The Thames

Mom and dad barnacle goose shielded their young from the camera. At first they stood between me and the little ones, but after they got used to my presence they stopped doing so. Nice to see how they protect their young.

Auf einen Architekturwettbewerb hatte die koreanische Regierung verzichtet; die Architekten waren dem Botschafter von einem deutschen Baukonzern empfohlen worden, der bereits mehrere Bauten im Berliner Botschaftsviertel ausgeführt hat.

Von außen eher streng und funktional, sucht man auch im Innern des Gebäudes vergeblich nach dem Vernakulär-Koreanischen, was z. B. moderne und dennoch atemberaubende Holzkonstruktionen hätten sein könnten. Es gibt immerhin Anspielungen, wie z. B. dekorhafte Gitter vor den Fenstern, die an die Reispapierwände traditioneller Häuser in Korea erinnern sollen. We made an early morning visit to Biscuit Basin in Yellowstone National Park. Lots of fencing along the boardwalk there to keep the curious from stepping off the walkway and falling through the crust into the scalding water.
