For those in the know, you will know that little Azizi here is snoozing the cold winter away in his warm and cosy vivarium, snuggled up next to Boo!! This photo was taken back in summer when he was very active.

What was once the most prosperous village in the Cinque Terre is still the most beautiful.

Silvester hörte man’s auf allen Sendern,
dass sich auch unterm Himmel manches ändern
und, außer uns, viel besser werden soll.

Es träumt von Frieden. Oder träumt’s vom Kriege?

My dear friends, wish you all a very happy New Year.
I met this colourful guy when I went to my sister's farm in Namakkal last week. There were plenty of butterflies and I like backlit butterflies. Their transperant wings glow in back light. With the coconut leaf and the blue sky for background I felt this could be a perfect New Year greeting to you.

This site was the location of the Prosperous and Providence Mines, two mines in the Greenhow area which exploited the "Black Vein"
The path descends into the heart of the site from West Lane and is part of the Nidderdale Way circular footpath
These mines represents a comprehensive late 18th and 19th century lead mining and processing complex and was one of a number of mines in the area exploiting the rich geology of Upper Nidderdale
Today's landscape of abandon mine workings reflects only a part of the long history. What survives above ground is only the tip of the iceberg. A maze of tunnels and enormous underground waterwheels lie hidden under the surface
Nidderdale, historically also known as Netherdale,[ is one of the Yorkshire Dales (although outside the Yorkshire Dales National Park) in North Yorkshire, England
Nidderdale was designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 1994
This is Hillend, West Lane on Ladies' Rigg which is part of the Nidderdale Way circular path. West Lane runs from Pateley Bridge to the old site of the Prosperous and Providence lead mines
The Nidderdale Way is a 52.4 miles circular long-distance footpath in Nidderdale in North Yorkshire

Well another decade has come and gone.
I think because of my passion for photography the last five years of my life have been very exciting and the most rewarding compared to the first half of this decade.
136 trips, over 135,000 miles of road travel and about 10,000 flight miles and I think about 100 tons of rental cars. I have photography and Flickr to thank for that. I would have never imagined that my passion for the outdoors would have been rivaled by anything, but my love of photography has done that, which makes it a perfect union of ecology and technology. But the social aspect has been the most rewarding considering I used to be a bit of an introverted hermit, Hehe.
I haven't been able to get out and shoot for myself or with my friends lately and I really miss that aspect of shooting photography, but shooting in a workshop group has it's perks too. Although a lot of work to plan and prepare it really gives me a chance to meet some great people that I never would have never met if I had been shooting alone or with my friends.
Here are my 9 favorite shots from the past year. Most were taken while teaching or co-hosting a workshop. Hope you like em.

Lyndhurst is a prosperous district in Canterbury, New Zealand. The surrounding land is particularly fertile, yielding good returns of wheat, oats, and other crops. While Lyndhurst is good sheep country, it's also pretty as a postcard, with wonderful landscape views that go on for mile after mile.
The prosperous little town of Oradour became notorious in June 1944 as the site of a horrendous and unprovoked massacre of 642 residents by the 2nd SS Panzer Division moving North on its way to counter the allied landings in Normandy. General de Gaulle decreed that the burnt‐out town be left exactly as it was, to serve as a memorial and a reminder of the brutality of the Nazis. The tram tracks, old cars, bicycles, sewing machines and general detritus of mid‐20th century life stopped at a moment in time provide an evocative scene to stir the emotions and imagination.

The site of Providence and Prosperous lead mines is visible and the upright stones are remains of the building which was the Engine Shed for the Providence
To the left in the trees is Providence Hall
The buildings in the distance which is over the valley containing Ashfold Side Beck is the farmstead of Merryfield (Beck means Stream)
Further left you can see smoke on the moor where they have started burning patches of the older heather to encourage the heather to produce new green shoots to feed red grouse and livestock. This can occur after Oct 1 to March 31 It is an emotive subject

Between 1891 and 1894 architect Philip Webb, who was a friend of William Morris, designed the house for a prosperous London solicitor, James Beale, his wife Margaret, and their family. It is decorated with Morris carpets, fabrics and wallpapers, and the garden complements the beauty of the house. The house still has its original electric light fittings
