Glossy Ibis- Plegadis Falcinellus

Flocks of Glossy Ibis forage quite close together, advancing slowly as they probe a muddy area. This activity often attracts Snowy Egrets and other species of waders, which capture minnows and other prey moving away from the feeding ibis flocks.

Glossy Ibises nest in colonies, often among other species of ibis, heron, egret, or spoonbill. Colonial nesters have the advantage of many extra sets of eyes looking out for predators. Colonies might also be places where highly gregarious species like ibises can share information about the most productive foraging areas.

Glossy Ibis is a cosmopolitan species, also found in Europe, Asia, and Africa. In recent decades, its population in Spain has been increasing rapidly, probably helped by increased rice cultivation there. Glossy Ibises banded in Spain have turned up as far away as Barbados, having crossed the Atlantic—a remarkable feat but one that several species of heron and egret have managed as well.

The oldest recorded Glossy Ibis was at least 21 years old and lived in Virginia between 1971 and 1992.

I'm probably the bastard and most vicious of you, but when I face him, I'm the sweetest lamb in the flock. She knows how to turn the hate in me into something really good. I'm proud of the man I am and even more of the life companion she taught me to be. My devotion to her is complete, my soul will forever be faithful to her.

Thank you for dancing with my demons every day to make it such a beautiful choreography, I won't let anyone hurt you I swear. I love you. ♥ @Nay Mancini

Probably Australia's most iconic biscuit ever. A bit too sweet for me. For Macro Mondays, theme: biscuit. HMM

This Southern Toad probably knows a lot more than we do these days.

... probably a kind of long range effect of the devastating wildfires in British-Columbia in summer 2017 with a lots of smoke particles in the air which lead to this copper coloured sky and light ...

This old limestone farmhouse has probably seen a lot of gray cold weather in its time.

I loved my color version but wanted to present in mono for now.

Town Hall - the first building of the fourteenth century, it was probably a wooden structure. During the great fire in 1541, was destroyed and rebuilt in the shape of a two-storey building with two towers. In the nineteenth century it was rebuilt: In 1827, pulled down one of the towers - north. The elevation developed in neostylowych forms referring to the Gothic and Renaissance, tower crowned with crenellations. In the basement are oldest preserved elements - stone and brick barrel vaults: cross-ribbed and starry.

Ratusz – pierwsza budowla z XIV wieku, była to budowla zapewne drewniana. W czasie wielkiego pożaru miasta w 1541 r. uległ zniszczeniu, odbudowany w kształcie budynku dwukondygnacyjnego z dwiema wieżami. W XIX wieku został przebudowywany: W 1827 r. rozebrano jedną z wież – północną. Elewację opracowano w neostylowych formach nawiązujących do gotyku i renesansu, wieżę zwieńczono krenelażem. W piwnicach zachowały się najstarsze elementy – kamienne sklepienia beczkowe oraz ceglane: krzyżowo-żebrowe i gwiaździste.

Probably the most photographed tree in the yorkshire dales......

Probably the most common duck worldwide, but maybe also the prettiest? I never tire of capturing them.

Probably my best portrait ever made

(probably M. adscendens a.k.a. the Frosty Bonnet)

Probably one of the most difficult places this trip to photograph. It was raining at the time and also it was very busy, so finding a spot was already a challenge. The flat light wasn’t working in my favour as well. But standing here, between all the selfie-makers, that really liked a majestic waterfall as a background for their even more majestic faces, I found a composition I like. And for me the b&w conversion creates the atmosphere I was looking for. The waterfall itself was really spectacular to watch!

Thanks for having a look! All faves and comments are highly appreciated!

While this probably isn't the actual species associated with the true Easter Lily (Lilium longiflorum) this is what I have in my archives so I'll use it for today's Holy Saturday.

Some interesting facts on the flower, from the University of Arizona, Reno:

Originating in Ryukyu Island in Japan, the plants were brought to England in 1818 and to America in 1880. The Easter lily has traditional and spiritual meaning. Mentioned many times in the Bible, the white lily symbolizes purity, rebirth, new beginnings and hope and is most often associated with the resurrection of Jesus Christ as observed on Easter.

This will most probably be my last submission to the CLiC group for 2015.

Overall I took over 150 photos, tried out a whole bunch of ideas and in the end only posted three pics including this one :(( Well, I hope I do better next year...

Anyway, for this shot I was trying to get my set of lights into this punpkin-shaped crystal bowl and play with the reflections, and I would have managed just that if not for this little one light that simply refused to go in no matter what I did!!! Frustrating as it was, I was pleasantly surprised to see that it led to a lovely selective focus shot with a pretty bokeh from all the other, more cooperative lights of the set ;))

Yes, I have processed it (I couldn't resist) but for those interested in the original shot, it's in the link below:

Have a wonderful pre- New Year's Eve evening, my dear friends and I'll send out my wishes for New Year's tomorrow ;)))

Probably the most impressive waterfalls I've seen to date. Amazing walk and so much to find, will be returning in the Autumn for sure.

probably every visitor to my photostream knows that I love kingfishers. This is an older image of a male Giant Kingfisher in Kafue NP, Zambia in November 2017.

Taken from a small boat on the Kafue River

The Giant Kingfisher is very large ( up to 45 cm or 18 inch ) and has a massive black bill.

Typically it hunts from a perched position next to rivers, lakes or lagoons but sometimes it can be seen hovering, a really impressive sight

probably the best-known medicinal plant...

Probably one of the most photographed, most tourist packed and most overrated locations in Norway, in my opinion.

We were leaving Lofoten when I took this picture. It was a brilliant sunset and I hadn't yet been able to take that "classic" Lofoten picture. When I saw this view here I just stopped and took some pictures, because OF COURSE I need to have something. I think it turned out very well.

My thoughts about Lofoten, well, it's not ideal for travelers who want to sleep in tents. Do yourself a favor and go there with an RV or something like that. Be prepared to not find any parking places, especially in Henningsvær for example. Reine was also full of people and we only found a free parking spot after six in the evening. Other people were parking along the main road but I wasn't brave like them. I already got stuck once on this trip.

I have to say I prefer southern Norway with its majestic fjords and valleys to Lofoten, but Lofoten definitely has a unique look and so, so many bridges.

Probably the best known and most visited waterfall in Iceland. Gullfoss translated means "golden waterfall". It has a total height of 32 meters, which is divided into two steps ( 21 and 11 meters), where the water of the river Hvitá flows.

Look at my long legs and slender waist not to mention my pretty eyes.

I find thread waisted wasps fascinating. This one is 2.54cm (1 inch) long and its back legs probably measure the same. This one was busy enjoying eveything the tiny mint flowers had to offer.

There probably will no big firework happening today. That’s why I'm taking recourse to a flower photograph what, with some fantasy (ok, lots of fantasy) is looking similar to one.

And with that I thank You all from the bottom of my heart for Your interest, the time You spend with my photos and Your warm and motivating comments.

I wish You a soft transition into the year 2022 and I'm looking forward to show You many more beautiful moments.

Probably weather is less important part of our actual life. But when it brings some sunshine or warmth we feel a little bit better. During this November I had no any possibility to go for the photographs. So here's the old picture that shows what we expect here very soon - a true winter. Today's -10 Celcius will seem a funny thing:-)

Thank you for all the comments and faves, my friends.

This old International truck probably hasn't seen a load of any kind for a few years. The abandoned house behind hasn't seen a resident in a few years either. But as they say, a little touch up and a little paint(maybe a little engine work as well),and both would be ready to go...

Happy truck thursday all from Wasta,SD.!

Probably the bird most responsible for my hopeless addiction...Garden

Probably because she goes around saying "oops" when she's killing everyone.

Vole was probably an easy catch, little tough to hide lol...they love this weather !

Probably the most westerly Hotel and Pub in Britain, The Hotel sits on the western side of Barra overlooking the white sands of Tangasdale Beach which in itself is within the crescent shaped Halaman Bay just a few miles from the main town of Castlebay. A great walk from here takes you out along the beach to Ben Tangaval where you get lovely views stretching out over the Atlantic west coast.
