CALGARY, ALBERTA
Located in the heart of the Beltline Core Area two
blocks south of the Central Business District, PRISM
PLACE will offer businesses the best in worksite
amenities. The site is situated in a prime location on
the north side of 11th Avenue SW (a major eastwest
traffic artery) mid-block between 1st and 2nd
Streets SW. To the west of the property are two
brick/sandstone structures (3 storey office and 6
storey Lewis Loft condominiums) and to the east the
5 storey Paramount Life office building. Immediately
south across 11th Avenue SW is the IBM Corporate
Park consisting of 3 midrise office buildings as well
as the Manhattan Loft condominiums. 1st Street SW
provides direct access to the downtown core and
to the south, 17th Avenue. Within a one block radius
of the site are a number of office buildings, including
the head offices of TransAlta Corporation, the
Vintage, 333 – 11th Avenue, the CIBC Data Center as
well as the Hotel Arts, several apartment buildings,
restaurants, retail stores and Central Memorial Park.
Spun my Freckle Face Fiber Merino Tencel in colorway, Prism into 632 yards of slightly felted singles. The singles are about 24 wpi I did my best to make the longest cleanest stripes I could. Should make a fun shawl someday.
With the meat mincer as the focal point, I worked with prisms in my photography, to create some exciting and very unusual outcomes. I liked the rainbow effect of the prisms, but it was difficult to angle them in such a way that they would distort the picture in a good way!
Lake Tahoe. No kidding. Sun coming in from the right and it was reflecting off the clouds in the sky in a prism, and ended up reflecting off the lake. Lasted for 15 minutes and I've never seen anything like it. Completely surreal.
This is actually a prism reflected upon a pillow....when I 'enhanced' it the colors changed immensely! I love color!
