the famous French food poule-au-pôt, chicken and vegetable. Tradition has it that King Henry IV, concerned about the well-being of its smallest subjects, has repeatedly said, "If God still gives me life I will do there will be no peasant in my kingdom n 'is way to have a chicken in his pot. »

"Pots plorar perquè ha marxat

o pots somriure perquè ha viscut;

pots tancar els ulls i resar per que torni

o pots obrir-los i veure tot el que ha deixat;

el teu cor pot estar buit

perquè no el pots veure

o pot estar plè de l'amor que compartireu.

Pots plorar, tancar la teva ment,

sentir el buit i donar l'esquena

o pots fer el que a ell li agradaria:

somriure, obrir els ulls, estimar i seguir."

Another look at the water pot lid, the shadows for the lattice lid amped up a bit. The lattice lid is originally black and the water has the criscross shadows on it. The pot is left on the wood stove to put humidity in the air as the fire burns the water is vaporized into the air. 7DOS abstract Texture Tuesday

Having pretty well exhausted whatever potential I had for the sublime this week I thought it time to give the ridiculous an outing.

This is for Sliders Sunday. I didn't have a lot of time so it's more a proof of concept rather than the finished article.

Palm leaves are interesting because of their radiating lines. This started out as a rather poor attempt at capturing an image of one in my garden. That failed so it was consigned to the Sliders Sunday Rescue and Recycling Project for Failed Photographs.

The basic idea I wanted to try out was to take the patterned image, copy it and flip it horizontally and vertically and then blend the two layers with blend modes and reduced opacity. It worked quite well to give the criss-cross effect.

For this one I hue-shifted one layer to get different colours and then used Difference blend at 80%. That created most of the effect, and I could have left it there.

Playing a bit more, I then took the result and solarised it using Nik Color Efex (a fun effect). Then the result was partially blended back into the previous two layers using the advanced blend mode (which only blended a certain range of tonality) and a bit more hue-shifting.

Really I was just messing around and going for some pretty colours...

All good fun, and and a bit of trying not to take photography too seriously... (Same applies to the title :) )

I'll link the blurry original in the first comment as usual so you can see how far we came.

Thank you for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the image :) Happy Sliders Sunday!

FIELDS OF GOLD.... What's at the end of your rainbow? Potentially a trunk load of gold in a jumbo sized pot!

We found this mid-sized female African Elephant at the end of a rainbow hanging over the Masai Mara Reserve, Kenya. I'm excited to be taking another group of photographers out there in Oct/Nov next year as the clouds and storms begin to return!

The storm clouds can start building in the afternoon and dramatic rainbows like this can occur with rain showers to the east but clear patches of sky to the west. This rainbow hung around for about 10 minutes before the sun was obscured by clouds. We raced to find this lone elephant before it completely disappeared.

I'm sure the elephant could see the rainbow, but she was primarily concerned about eating more food. She never stopped munching the entire time we were there.

For wildlife shots like this, it's not just luck. It's about reading the weather and knowing where to go when conditions like this develop to get the best opportunities.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I bought this plastic pot, and set it in the sunroom until I needed it. I noticed that when the sun came in the window, and shined on the pot, I could see patterns that were only vaguely visible when not in the sunshine (or not visible at all, depending on the light).

So, for Slider's Sunday, here is a simple plastic pot, in the sunshine, with lots of fun sliding. HSS!
