Siedziba założonej w 1945 r. Polskiej Filharmonii Bałtyckiej znajduje się w zabudowaniach dawnej elektrociepłowni miejskiej na wyspie Ołowianka. Neogotyckie budynki powstały w latach 1897-98. Zakład działał w tym miejscu do 1996 r. Dzięki przebudowie dokonanej w latach 1998-2005 poprzemysłowe tereny dostosowano do funkcji kulturalnych.

The seat of the Polish Baltic Philharmonic established in 1945 is located in the old heat and electric plant on the Ołowianka island. The Gothic Revival buildings date back from 1897 and 1898. The plant operated in this place until 1996. The alteration of the postindustrial structures carried out from 1998 to 2005 adjusted the area for cultural activities.

In the photo, the former Łódź heat and power plant No. 1, after completion of work, turned into a science center.
Reflections in a huge puddle, a pool of water, were possible to photograph due to the earlier downpour that day. Water - a pool formed at the site of the construction of a new promenade.

Koks löschen !
Der glühende Koks wurde von der Koksausdrückmaschine aus der Koksofenkammer in den Kokslöschwagen gedrückt, unter den Kokslöschturm gefahren und dort gelöscht.
Diese blendend weißen Löschwolken waren im Kohlenpott (Ruhrpott/Ruhrrevier) des 20. Jahrhunderts immer und überall zu sehen und besonders eindrucksvoll bei wolkenlosem Himmel.
1890 erste Kokerei.
1927-28 Neubau Zentralkokerei.
1929 Neubau Gasometer.
1989 Stilllegung.
Inzwischen abgerissen.
