The Fairy Pools are beautiful crystal clear aqua pools on the River Brittle at the foot of the Black Cuillins near Glenbrittle, Isle of Skye
The Mammoth pools were in the devastating Creek Fire in September of 2020. I was amazed at how scarred this entire area was from the fire, 45,500 acres burned. The good news is I did see new growth sprouting up out of the land. There are several campgrounds around this reservoir. The fire was so fast that many campers were not able to evacuate ending up waiting for help by going into the water to avoid the fire. 224 campers were rescued by helicopter and taken to safety.
At the upper reaches of the Fairy Pools on the Isle of Skye and the scenery is just stunning. We stopped here, took our shoes and socks off and paddled in the cool waters of Allt Coir a'Mhadaidh. With the dramatic backdrop of the Cuillin Mountains it was a wonderful place to sit and relax.
I want to go back & shoot here with my widest lens. I wonder if there is ever a sunset here that isn't crowded with photographers. I can totally understand why it's so crowded though. Some of them will share a spot, other's won't budge. It's ok, I get it. I'll be back ;)
What a gorgeous place this is! I could spend an entire day here, a shot of the fairy pools no the isle of Skye with lovely colours in the water.
Le voyage cérébrale dans les anciennes photos permet de retrouver des moments que j'aimerais retrouver avec un grand plaisir. Une semaine à Skye en famille, presque seuls au monde.

The Blackwater River is a 34.3-mile-long river in the Allegheny Mountains of eastern West Virginia, USA.
Smooth it glides upon its travel,
Here a wimple, there a gleam –
O the clean gravel!
O the smooth stream!
Sailing blossoms, silver fishes,
Pave pools as clear as air –
How a child wishes
To live down there!

Our pool at the Kingsland Resort is awesome with steam vents, waterslides and hot tubs. This photo doesn't do it justice, but it covers a huge area :)
I liked the angular rock pools I came across, in tilted rock formations, as I walked along the coast one day, from Loch Buie to Carsaig, on the Isle of Mull.

The tidal pools surrounding Haystack Rock are an excellent place to observe marine life during low tide.
Well a patio table with pools of water - rain water all over it and halfway through taking a few shot the mottled old leaf just dropped onto the table ! Therefore I kept it in exactly where it landed seeing as providence had provided an extra prop for the shot .
This is of course my shot for SSC 27/07/2024 -- clear liquid .
A simple shot with no rambling write up this week , so straight into the Sight & Sound --
A tenuous link 'cos I like it and it takes me back straight to the early 1970s ( probably late 1972 )- or was it earlier and the Pilgrimage tour before this track , twas a long time ago !!
What a glorious day to visit the Fairy Pools in Glen Brittle on the Isle of Skye. The Pools are actually a series of falls and pools as the Allt Coir a'Mhadaidh tumbles from the impressive Cuilin Mountains which form a dramatic backdrop.
Hurricane preparation around the hood. Pools closed and locked. Getting ready to hunker down with family. Be safe Florida!
Happy Fence Friday!
The garden area of the Villa d'Este is known for the hundreds of fountains and many pools. This is the pool in front of the Fountain of the Organ. It contains a mechanism through which water flows and creates musical notes.
The Fountain of the Organ (Fontana dell'Organo) is one of the most famous features of the garden; it was described and imitated throughout Europe. Work on the masonry structure began in 1566. The fountain itself was made by the French fountain engineer Luc Leclerc and his nephew Claude Venard. After the death of Leclerc, Venard invented the ingenious mechanism of the water organ, which was installed in 1571.
The fountain was the first of its kind, and astonished everyone who heard it; when Pope Gregory XIII visited the villa in 1572, accompanied by his court of cardinals and princes, he insisted on inspecting the interior of the fountain, to learn if someone was not concealed inside making the music. Starting to attain the upper reaches of Glen Brittle following Allt Coir a'Mhadaidh which forms the Fairy Pools on the Isle of Skye, we have a fantastic view of the dramatic Cuillin Mountains which loom gloomily over the entire landscape.
Taken on the evening I ventured out to Budle bay at Bamburgh in Northumberland.
By the time I go to this spot sunset time had been and gone, there had not actually been a sight of the sun but the colours were there and picked up nicely in the rock pools too, this is looking towards the North West, you can see Lindisfarne Castle on the horizon.
