Paris de Candelaria

Une bande de poètes assis, en plein milieu de royal street dans le quartier français de la nouvelle Orléans.

Il y a du monde dans les rues, mardi gras approche et les parades se multiplient a chaque jour qui passe.

LSD.. for those in the know... go to Halucinogerix to find out more ;-))

Il est infraction de penser que puisse exister quelqu'un spécial,

qu'il y a des êtres avec cœur ?

Il est arrogance de rêver éveillé,

et croire que tu puis faire la différence dans cette planète ?

S'il est ainsi, je suis coupable !

Silence, unmoved and rising,

Silence, unmoved and sheltering,

Silence, unmoved and permanent,

Silence, unmoved and brilliant,

Silence, broad and immense like the Ganga,

Silence, unmoved and increasing,

Silence, white and shining like the Moon,

Silence, the Essence of Siva

The Time Poets by Daniel Arrhakis (2017)

The base of the work a panel of tiles I captured in Constância representing Camões, regarded as the greatest poet of the Portuguese language.

A juxtaposition between the past and the irreverence of the present, after all, times are others but souls of men sigh the same feelings ...

The mythical West Lake of Hangzhou, beloved by poets and painters, was already a tourism destination several centuries before Marco Polo eulogized it, and had become the most famous landmark in China at the times when Hangzhou, capital of the Song Empire, was the largest city in the world...

"West Lake has long been known as Golden Buffalo Lake according to a legend from the times of the Han dynasty (206BC-220AD).

There was a golden buffalo laying at the bottom of the lake. Whenever the lake dried up, the buffalo would emerge and spew water until the lake fills up again. In order to win the emperor’s favor, local officials asked their people to drain the lake by waterwheel. When the lake got try the buffalo turned up as expected and the officials all rushed to catch it.To their surprise, the buffalo raised its head and bellowed with anger producing water, which drowned them all in no time.Since then, West Lake has never gone dry, nor the buffalo appeared again", except now through this sculpture...

What a pleasure is was to sit under this big, old apple tree while listening to Mary read her poetry. Truly a wonderful start to Summer.

Mary Kellogg - My Place on Earth

This is my original design, called the Poet Coat. It's inspired by the book, The Little Prince and features gold start buttons, an oversized lapel, french cuffs and a long cutaway hem. The garment closes with a zipper for practicality.

This pattern is in the book, Boho Baby Knits and is worked in Blue Sky Alpaca yarn.

I couldn't be happier with how it was styled and photographed.

There is a small island off the coast of Kanyakumari, reachable by a 10-minute ride by ferry. The island houses a few different Hindu temples, but principally a monument to Swami Vivekananda, the 19th century Indian Hindu monk and spiritual leader.

Near this island is also a large rock that serves as a monument to Thiruvalluvar, a revered Hindu philosopher and Tamil poet from this area who lived in the 3rd or 4th century BCE. His magnum opus, known as Thirukkural (literally Holy Voice), is one of the most important and revered works in the Tamil language.

From where we caught the ferry, I did not have a good angle to take a picture of the statue. From the Vivekananda island, I could only get this rear / side view. I was planning to get to a better vantage point on the shore after returning from the island, but just as we returned from the island, it started raining heavily, and we barely made it to our car without getting drenched. After that, we decided to head back to Kerala, so I had to settle for these two shots of Thiruvallavar.

My Soul, which seems here to have deprived me of itself, proves that the Soul lives outside its body by the fear that I cause in the living; this he cannot do whose fate it is to die entirely.
