La cathédrale Saint-Étienne de Metz est la cathédrale catholique du diocèse de Metz, dans le département français de la Moselle en région Grand Est.
Si sa construction s'étend sur trois siècles, à partir de 1220, la cathédrale présente une certaine homogénéité de style : les critères stylistiques furent respectés à chaque campagne de construction.
La cathédrale de Metz est non seulement la cathédrale de France ayant la plus grande surface vitrée, près de 6 500 m2, mais également celle qui présente les plus grandes verrières gothiques d’Europe. Quant à la hauteur de ses voûtes, elle n'est surpassée en France que par les cathédrales de Beauvais (inachevée) et d'Amiens.
Dans le Bulletin de la Société d'archéologie et d'histoire de la Moselle de 1862, il est rappelé que l'archevêque de Bordeaux, Ferdinand Donnet a rendu hommage à la cathédrale de Metz. Par ailleurs, le chevalier Joseph Bard a rendu hommage à la qualité de la cathédrale et à sa parure de vitraux dans l'article qu'il a rédigé dans le Congrès archéologique de France de 1846. Il l'appelait la « lanterne de Dieu ».
La cathédrale fait l’objet d’un classement au titre des monuments historiques depuis le 16 février 1930. Comptant parmi les dix cathédrales les plus fréquentées de France, elle est candidate à un classement à l'UNESCO (source Wikipedia)

She's 8 and a figure skater. Or so we thought. In January of 2023, she joined girls under 9 hockey. Never in my wildest dreams did I expect to be already travelling to her first tournament and seeing her actually win. She's one of the smallest out there but she plays with heart and those little legs can fly.
As much as it is all for fun, before every game she becomes silent as she waits to take the ice. This is her wait before the championship.

Another photo from the series "The other Liguria". Because Liguria is not only the one with the sea, beaches and umbrellas. The interesting thing is that sea, beaches and umbrellas are only 13 kilometers from where I took the picture.

Karnaphuli or Khawthlangtuipui is the largest and most important river in Chattogram and the Chattogram Hill Tracts. It is a 667-metre (2,188 ft) wide river in the south-eastern part of Bangladesh. Originating from the Saithah village of Mamit district in Mizoram, India, it flows 270 kilometres (170 mi) southwest through Chattogram Hill Tracts and Chattogram into the Bay of Bengal. Before the Padma, it was the fastest flowing river in Bangladesh. It is said to "represent the drainage system of the whole south-western part of Mizoram.Principal tributaries include the Kawrpui River or Thega River, Tuichawng River and Phairuang River. A large hydroelectric power plant using Karnaphuli river was built in the Kaptai region during the 1960s. The mouth of the river hosts the Port of Chattogram, the largest and busiest seaport of Bangladesh.

Spectacular clouds over Duffus Castle......
Mottes were common in Scotland the 1100s and 1200s, before they were replaced by stone castles. They were fortifications, usually consisting of a wooden keep on top of an artificial earthwork mound. Some also had an enclosed courtyard or bailey, containing additional wooden buildings, protected by a ditch and palisade.
Duffus Castle was a fortress–residence for more than 500 years, from the 1100s to the 1700s. The stone castle we see today was built in the 1300s, replacing an earlier timber fortress.
Once one of the strongest castles in Scotland, it was reduced to a decaying ruin by the time of its abandonment in 1705. But the castle remains an impressive sight, situated on a mound rising out of the flat Laich of Moray.
