My third, but not last, tattoo. It's a pisces symbol (my bday is 3.16) but it's also an "H" representing my last name. :) I love it.

A very special little lady in the theme of Carnival+the horoscope Pisces!

Carnival PIsces is made from a genuine Takara Blythe Vera Florentine. She wears a beautiful wig made by SleepingElf and a dress set made by JEDS123. Carnival Pisces comes with everything you see in the photos, including her stand, outfit, hair accessories and toys.

"Pisces" was created using Photoshop. It combines seven of my own photos and two drawings. The central figure is made-up of two photos of the same person, blended together. The fisheye and mouth are from one photo, cropped. The background texture is made of 4 different layered and manipulated photos (close up images of natural textures). The star pattern was layered onto the image and then several lens flares applied to each star position. © 2008

Under blue moon I saw you

Dreamy, romantic, unstable, sensitive, altruistic, creative, imaginative, sensuous, evasive...

That's exactly how I am ;-)

The silver stars and silhouette of Pisces the two fish are illustrated in this handmade block print. Pisces (♓) is the twelfth astrological sign in the Zodiac. I printed an edition of 8 prints, 7.5 inches by 10 inches (19 cm by 24.8 cm) on lovely, handmade, Japanese kozo (or mulberry) paper with a deckle edge. Since the paper is handmade, there is some small variation in size and the edge of each sheet. The word Pisces and symbol ♓ appear at the bottom of the image. The lines linking the constellation appear in black-on-silver or silver-on-black as appropriate. There's a star cluster, shown as a circle, and the lines for the constellations of Pegasus, Triangulum and Aries.

If you imagined all celestial bodies we see in the night sky as mapped onto a sphere (the Celestial Sphere) around our Earth, the ecliptic would be the line you would draw to map the apparent path of the Sun through the various constellations. The ecliptic is marked as the dashed line in this print.

Had an awesome day today! I have the best friends ever! I can't wait to party this weekend

Lady Chapel (crypt) with two ‘vesica pisces’ marks on southeast pillar, also containing puzzling rectangular mark. No other pillars in the crypt are so marked.

Wimborne Minster is a 12th century church on the site of an earlier edifice, the crypt is slightly later and seems to have been a Lady Chapel although there is no mention of that in the official guide and various people connected with the church when I visited were opaque with regard to this. The 2002 guide lists it as "The Crypt ... 1340".

The chapel contains a symbolic lamp (candle) suspended from the vaulted ceiling and a blank central space in the middle of the eastern wall with a Marian painting on it (just like the Audley Chapel at Salisbury). I suspect this space would have been occupied by an altar and possibly a statue of the Virgin before the Reformation. To the right is a piscina (ritual niche) confirming the altar thesis.

The chapel has an amazing atmosphere, indefinable scent, closest to frankincense but remaining vague. The vesica pisces is interesting in the context of ritual pillar marks because it is an abstraction of the daisy wheel. It makes me wonder if these signs appeared as a result of the Reformation with its proscription of Marian imagery.

I have been having some trouble with monitor gamma lately, so if the colours don't seem right then let me know; hopefully I'll be able to get them sorted!

The latest of the Bekler abstracts. I felt this one had an aquatic vibe, and in keeping with the 1970s theme of my other pipes' titles, this became Pisces. Importer Golden Horn, the second major importer to carry Ismet Bekler's carving talent (after Royal, before CAO) got his earliest signed pipes. This one is unsigned and probably very early in his production for them, likely 1973 or early 1974. Smooth, with innumerable curls, cuts and facets and has three decorative holes, it has been well-smoked and is coloring beautifully. How am I sure it's Bekler's work? Besides having a case label (see below), absolutely no other carver ever made abstracts that looked anything like Bekler's, although several did carve freeform meerschaums.

One unique aspect to Golden Horn is that most pipe cases carried not only a Golden Horn label reading "Finest Quality Genuine Block Meerschaum Golden Horn" and their logo, a blocky 70s "G" with the inner opening in the shape of a calabash pipe, but also a second label which had their logo and a printed title. Many models had official names and a matching custom label; there were even labels for plain pipes, marked "small," "medium" or "large." Bekler's had larger labels, printed as shown: "Exclusively by Golden Horn Genuine Bekler," followed by one of four designations. Limited editions, often faces, had the "Collectors' Special" label, and might also carry a round label printed with a number. Bekler's unique castle pipes were labeled "Mystery Castle." A series of windswept Middle Eastern bearded faces, often incorporated into abstract forms, were "Imperial Heroes." Pure abstracts, such as this one, had labels bearing the appropriate title, "Beyond Imagination." Bravo!

Pisces moored in Teignmouth harbour

Pisces is a two-tone, two-ply yarn that's double the fun and twice the luxury.

One ply is spun from a super-soft blend of merino wool and silk, in bright peach, and deep ocean blue. Like the goldfish in your imaginary meditation pool.

The other ply is a blend of durable romney wool, and cozy warm alpaca, in a cinnamon shade.

Pisces consists of two skeins (one blue, one peach), and they go together as a pair. Double knit, stripe them, or do a two-tone intarsia pattern! The possibilities are endless.

25% Romney Wool

25% Alpaca

10% Silk
