Phlegm est d’abord un illustrateur. Loin du tag, ses dessins ressemblent à des gravures en noir et blanc, pleines de détails très précis. Le mélange de machinerie, d’humains et de robots crée un univers étrange, inquiétant, proche du surréalisme. On trouve beaucoup de ses fresques à Sheffield où il vit et à Londres.

Phlegm is first and foremost an illustrator. Far from simple tags, his drawings resemble highly detailed black and white engravings. A combination of machines, humans and robots creates a bizarre, disturbing world that verges on the surreal. Many of his frescos can be found in Sheffield, where he lives, as well as in London.

I do like how the ledge is incorporated in to the art here. Interestingly there is a painting by Phlegm in my home town, but unfortunately it is behind locked gates.

Phlegm est un artiste gallois connu pour ses bandes dessinées, mais qui réalise aussi de grandes fresques sur les murs. Il possède un univers intrigant grâce à ses personnages gigantesques et surréalistes qu’il peint avec grande précision presque toujours en noir et blanc. A l’occasion de l’exposition des tableaux de Bruegel dans la Librairie royale, Phlegm a été invité à participer à l’évènement en peignant une grande fresque en noir et blanc sur le mur latéral de la librairie, une réalisation surréaliste dont il a le secret.

Phlegm is a Welsh artist known for his comic strips, but who also creates large-scale wall murals. He has an intriguing universe thanks to his gigantic and surreal characters, which he paints with great precision, almost always in black and white. On the occasion of the exhibition of Bruegel's paintings in the Royal Library, Phlegm was invited to participate in the event by painting a large black and white mural on the side wall of the bookstore, a surrealist creation of which he has the secret.
