Philadelphia City Hall is the seat of the municipal government of the City of Philadelphia. Built in the ornate Second Empire style, City Hall houses the chambers of the Philadelphia City Council and the offices of the Mayor of Philadelphia. It is also a courthouse, serving as the seat of the First Judicial District of Pennsylvania, and houses the Civil Trial and Orphans' Court Divisions of the Court of Common Pleas of Philadelphia County.

Built of brick, white marble, and limestone, Philadelphia City Hall is the world's largest free-standing masonry building and was the world's tallest habitable building upon its completion in 1894. In 1976, it was designated a National Historic Landmark, and in 2006, was also named a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark by the American Society of Civil Engineers.

This lovely vireo can be found during a few week period beginning the last week or so in September as it migrates thru our area. This location is historically the best place to find this species locally, but this year it seemed to be findable in many other places as well.

Birds have been a little slow as of late, so I will be mixing it up on my photostream with some different material over the coming two weeks. Cityscapes, macro, and some other interesting stuff. Birds will be mixed in as well as after all that is my specialty. This is an image of the Philadelphia skyline at dusk looking West toward the city. My location was fairly far away, so this was shot with a 300mm prime on full frame. Next time I visit this locale, I am going to use my 500mm for a tighter look. Please view large for the best view of Philadelphia at Dusk.

Enjoy the day~!
