During the second Empire, this neighbourhood, known as 'little Poland', underwent significant redevelopment following construction work by Haussmann – broad straight avenues were laid out and people flocked to live in the new houses built there, greatly increasing the population. A parish was therefore established and a church built, and great care was taken that the church matched the elegance and wealth of the surrounding housing. The architect called in to design Saint Augustin was Victor Baltard, famed for his previous work on the Halles de Paris

Ayer fui al Palau Robert de Barcelona, donde puede ver una exposición espectacular sobre Els Comediants, un grupo creativo principalmente conocido por sus producciones teatrales, aunque presente también en campos tan dispares como el diseño, la música, la literatura, el cine, el vestuario, la televisión o la pedagogía. Sus obras se caracterizan por su espíritu festivo. De hecho, su línea creativa se basa en el intento de traspasar lo puramente teatral para buscar reactivar las raíces festivas que cohesionan a la humanidad. En esta dirección, conciben el teatro como un arte de los sentidos en el que cualquier sitio puede servir de escenario, cualquier elemento puede ser objeto de dramatización y cualquier lenguaje es válido para llegar al espectador.

Sus montajes suelen destacar por la espectacularidad y han colaborado en ceremonias de enorme relevancia como los Juegos Olímpicos de Barcelona’92. Demonios. La noche. Mare nostrum. La flauta mágica. Maravillas de Cervantes. El árbol de la memoria, estas son algunas de sus producciones, aunque ha realizado representaciones por los cinco continentes.
